What if Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had had a private strategy session? This fictional account of a meeting between two of the most important men of modern times takes place in 1965 in a Harlem hotel during the height of the Civil Rights Movement.

“Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same social problems…” according to Dramatists Play Service.

Directed by Sinclair Theatre graduate, Shaun Diggs, this production will be offered free of charge through the support of Sinclair’s Diversity Office. Performances are at 7 pm on Feb. 9th and 10th with a matinee performance at noon on the 10th.

There will be no tickets for this event. All seating is on a first come, first served basis, however, groups of 10 or more can reserve seats by contacting patti.celek@sinclair.edu . Masks must be worn on all Sinclair campuses. A study guide, written by Furaha Henry Jones, is available upon request.

The production is about 30 minutes, with a panel discussion following.

Cast includes Shaun Diggs as Martin Luther King, Jr.; Rico Parker as Malcolm X; and DeAngelo Powell as the Rashad, the bodyguard. Additional support provided by Sinclair Theatre alumni Andrew Ian Adams (costumes), and Ronald J. Frost (stage management and lighting).
