Storytellers are encouraged to prepare a five-minute story relating to the theme.\nTellers put their names in a hat\, and 10 are drawn at random.Bring a story\, and bring a friend.\n\nThe best story of the night wins $50\, 4 free tickets to a future slam\, and a guaranteed spot in June’s Grand Slam\nOur theme for April is “Take A Leap.”\nDoors open for seating at 6:30 PM\, show starts at 7:00 PM.The bar will be open\, and there is a two-drink minimum. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $10.00 day of ( if available).\nThe venue does not sell food\, you are welcome to bring snacks\, if you clean up after yourself.

DESCRIPTION:Rosewood Arts Center in Kettering\, Ohio announces a call for entries for the 32nd Annual The View\, a juried exhibition for Ohio artists presenting landscape or land imagery\, environmental themes and world issues. Submissions will be accepted starting Sunday\, February 1\, 2026 on Call for Entry. Entries must be original works in any media (2-D or 3-D)\, completed within the last four years. Jurying will take place from digital images. Work previously exhibited at Rosewood is not eligible. Completed entries (entry form\, digital images\, and non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to 3 works)\, will be accepted through CallforEntry.org through April 23\, 2026. The exhibition runs from June 8 through July 18\, 2026. Both the exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. \nArtists must agree to the Gallery Virtual Group Exhibition Agreement to participate in a group exhibition.

DESCRIPTION:Wright Memorial Public Library and Jewish Dayton are pleased to host an author talk with Dan Slater about his book The Incorruptibles: A True Story of Kingpins\, Crime Busters\, and the Birth of the American Underworld. A book signing will take place following the talk and books will be available for purchase at the event. This talk closes out the 2025-2026 season of Jewish Dayton’s Cultural Arts & Book Series (CABS) – an annual series that offers outstanding programming to promote awareness\, appreciation\, and pride in the diversity of the Jewish people and community. \nReservations are requested at wrightlibrary.org/calendar \nAbout The Incorruptibles:\nIn the early 1900s\, prior to World War I\, New York City was a vortex of vice and corruption. On the Lower East Side\, then the most crowded ghetto on earth\, Eastern European Jews formed a dense web of crime syndicates. Gangs of horse poisoners and casino owners\, pimps and prostitutes\, thieves and thugs\, jockeyed for dominance while their family members and neighbors toiled in the unregulated garment industry. \nBut when the notorious murder of a gambler attracted global attention\, a coterie of affluent German-Jewish uptowners decided to take matters into their own hands. Worried about the anti-immigration lobby and the uncertain future of Jewish Americans\, the uptowners marshalled a strictly off-the-books vice squad led by an ambitious young reformer. \nThe squad\, known as the Incorruptibles\, took the fight to the heart of crime in the city\, waging war on the sin they saw as threatening the future of their community. Their efforts\, however\, led to unforeseen consequences in the form of a new mobster class who realized\, in the country’s burgeoning reform efforts\, unprecedented opportunities to amass power. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
