SUMMARY:Looting Antiquity: Greece's Lost Marbles
DESCRIPTION:The first presentation in the Archaeological Institute of America Dayton Society’s 2025-2026 Lecture Series presented by Dr. Zoë Kontes\, Professor of Classics at Kenyon College. \nThe Parthenon Marbles may be the most famous sculptures removed from an ancient Greek building\, but they are far from the only ones. Marble sculptures from the Temple of Aphaia on the island of Aegina and the mountaintop Temple of Apollo at Bassae were spirited away and sold at auction in the 19th century; they have remained abroad ever since. This celebration spans from California’s West Coast to the French Riviera. \nA flight of 4 unidentified wines will be available for purchase. Test your palate during an interactive tasting as Mic Flo performs original songs that help you determine which wine is in your glass. \nTickets: $15 advance / $18 door \nThis is an intimate\, one-of-a-kind evening. Limited Seating available. \nArtist Background:\nDJ Marrrtin began as graffiti artist DEZER in 1991\, evolving into a beatmaker and producer since 1999. Founder of Stereophonk Records\, he’s released vinyl ranging from Estonian jazz to hip-hop breakbeats. Marrrtin has collaborated with Rasco\, The Nubians\, A.G. of DITC\, and more. He co-founded Funky Bijou\, whose music has featured at the Olympics\, Red Bull BC One Finals\, and in French TV/film. A proud Frenchman\, his love of wine and food is as deep as his beats. \nTINO moved to Dayton for college and soon found his voice in hip-hop. Performing since 2012\, he’s opened for Talib Kweli\, Del the Funky Homosapien\, Wu-Tang’s Cappadonna\, and more. He’s also one half of the duo Safe Money. His latest release\, Rose in the East\, is his second international collaboration with DJ Marrrtin. TINO blends Golden Era hip-hop with modern energy\, bridging generations through rhythm and rhyme. \nMic Flo wrote his first rhyme at 10 and co-founded the duo Mike & Ike. A board-certified physician\, father\, and freestyler\, he created the MICFULNESS album series centered on gratitude and growth. A move to California sparked his wine journey\, earning certifications from UC Davis\, WSET level III\, and the Court of Master Sommeliers. Now\, with Dope Wines Dope Vibes\, Mic Flo merges music and wine into a genre-defying experience that pairs lyrics with vintages to celebrate connection.

DESCRIPTION:At the helm of The Beach Boys is lead singer and critically-acclaimed lyricist\, Mike Love\, a founding member whose leadership has steered the band through decades of musical evolution. Grammy-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston joined The Beach Boys in 1965\, replacing Glenn Campbell\, who filled-in for Brian Wilson\, on vocals/bass\, when he retired from touring. Highly regarded in his field\, Johnston brought with him a wealth of experience from working with icons like Elton John and Pink Floyd\, The Byrds\, cementing his place among rock’s elite. \nThe current lineup\, including musical director Brian Eichenberger\, Christian Love\, Tim Bonhomme\, Jon Bolton\, Keith Hubacher\, Randy Leago\, and John Wedemeyer\, continues to honor and expand upon the band’s iconic LIVE performance legacy. This dedication is evident in their rigorous touring schedule\, with the band performing an average of 150 shows a year across a variety of venues worldwide.
