Liquor Permit Renewals Extended

April 27, 2020 By Lisa Grigsby

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control announced Friday that it would be extending the May 18 deadline for renewing C and D liquor permits. This extension applies to permits set to expire June 1. A new deadline will be established once the order banning on-premises consumption is lifted.

“We are listening and recognize the financial strain of permit renewal fees to businesses at this time. Extending the deadline will provide economic relief to permit holders by giving them some breathing room for renewal submissions,” said DOLC Superintendent Jim Canepa in a press release.

Holders of permits set to expire June 1 are eligible to take advantage of this extension. This encompasses approximately 8,400 establishments holding roughly 20,000 permits in the Western portion of the state; a full list of included counties can be found here. If a business has already mailed in its extension, DOLC will contact them to determine if they’d like to proceed with their renewal or wait for the new deadline.

Many local permit holders received this correspondence from

Sandy Wilson, Program Administrator the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Liquor Control.  For more info she can be reached at (614) 644-2472.

Is my license fee due mid-May for the June renewal for District 2/the western portion of the state?

• No. The May 18, 2020 filing deadline for the June 1 renewal period is being waived at this time. A new filing deadline will be established when the Director of the Ohio Department of Health lifts her order.

Who is eligible for the Liquor Permit Renewal Extension?

• Class C and D Liquor permit holders in District 2/the western portion of the state who have on-premises general consumption permits due for renewal on June 1.

What if I already submitted my renewal?

• The Division will contact the permit holder to determine if they’d like to proceed with their renewal.
