2024 Jewish Cultural Festival
June 9 @ 11:00 am - 7:00 pm
FreeTemple Israel’s Jewish Cultural Festival, set for Sunday, June 9, 2024 opens the door to Judaism for all who wish to learn more about our traditions and our faith. In past years, over 2000 people turned out to enjoy music and stories, learn about rituals, Torah, and holidays, taste brisket and falafel, play games, shop for crafts and Judaica, dance and laugh.
With our friends from all faiths, we enjoy a beautiful day at Temple and learn that we have a lot in common.
The Festival involves more than 150 Temple volunteers, who serve food, perform, lead tours or explain holidays, answer questions, and proudly welcome friends and newcomers to share a Jewish experience.
EDUCATION: The lively and interactive education sessions feature prominent local and regional speakers and topics for each presentation will focus on diversity in the Jewish community. Everyone will also have the chance to tour Temple’s building with a knowledgeable guide.
ENTERTAINMENT: Non-stop entertainment features Jewish music, humor, dance, and stories. The outdoor stage will be live with special performances from your local and regional favorites. All music lovers will enjoy this eclectic mix.
FOOD AND DRINKS: The Festival menu will showcase the diverse options of foods of the Jewish diaspora – the foods of Jewish communities worldwide. Partners include Graeter’s Ice Cream, Brock Masterson’s Catering, Greek Street Food Truck and Blue Bus Coffee. The Temple bakery, partnering with Ghostlight Bakery, will return with delicious baked goods including rugelach, caramel matzah crunch, almond cookies, honey cake, and challah. Dayton Beer Company will delight again with an array of offerings from their local taps. We will also have Dr. Brown’s Soda, Coke products and water available for sale.
CHILDREN: Activities, interactive hands-on projects, and a petting zoo will entertain and educate children of all ages. Everyone will also get a special craft project to take home!
CRAFTS: An open-air market showcases Jewish and Israeli arts and crafts, including woodworking, clothing, jewelry, ceramics, and accessories from local and regional artisans.
GIVING BACK: Mitzvah Alley shines a light on vital social justice causes in the greater Dayton region. Join us to discover more about these impactful organizations: Access to Excess, Closet TRANSformation, Our Farm Sanctuary, PFLAG Dayton, and LiFeline Cat Rescue and the JCRC Upstander program.
