Art: A Voice for the People

Greater Dayton Move to Amend will host “Art: A Voice for the People,” a panel discussion on the role of the arts in social movements, 2-3:30 p.m., Sat., Oct. 14, at the Dayton Peace Museum, 10 N. Ludlow St.

Featured panelists are:

  • Gregory Changa Freeman, poet, digital art photographer and president of the board of trustees with the African American Visual Arts Guild;
  • Migiwa Orimo, Tokyo born installation artist and facilitator of the People’s Banner Workshop; and
  • Dave Crowell, fine art handler, custom framer and founder of Custom Frame Services.

Panel moderator is Karen Jeffers-Tracy, adult services librarian and developer of the Climate Literacy Certificate Course for Adult Library Patrons.

Free and open to the public, the program is being held in advance of the Spring 2024 We the People Art Contest. Presented by Greater Dayton Move to Amend in partnership with the Dayton Peace Museum, the art contest is open to Dayton area students in grades 9-12 and includes cash prizes in three categories—visual arts, performing arts and political cartoons.
