Artist Talk with Colleen Kelsey

Join us at the Dayton Society of Artists on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:30–7:30 PM for an engaging artist talk with painter Colleen Kelsey, whose exhibition Light & Shadows is currently on view at DSA.
Kelsey will share insights from her recent artist residency at NES in Skagaströnd, Iceland, where she immersed herself in the landscape—visiting local heitur potturs (hot pots), hiking dramatic mountain terrain, and exploring glacier-fed rivers.
Light & Shadows features inventive figurative paintings informed by watercolor studies made during her travels. The work highlights subtle color transitions and atmospheric shifts observed in the Icelandic landscape. Reflecting on her experience, Kelsey notes, “The ever-changing northern spring light heightened my awareness of subtle color interactions and the atmospheric qualities of space.”
