EcoTalk – The Beaver Creek Wetlands: A Product of Ice, Water, Fire, and Conservation

March 21 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Your MetroParks are laboratories for research: Ecologists, botanists, and other scientists conduct observations and experiments in nature. This research grows our understanding of how nature works and reveals new methods for conservation. Meet researchers, contemplate their study questions, hear their stories, and learn what they have discovered.

The Beaver Creek Wetlands are a 2,000-acre corridor of wetlands and other protected natural areas along Beaver Creek and Little Beaver Creek in Greene County. Sculpted by long-extinct rivers, filled in by mile-high glaciers, colonized by vegetation from all points of the compass, and managed with Indigenous fire, this land is a vital and diverse component of the Dayton, Ohio Region. This program will explore its origins, diversity, decline, and conservation.
