History Of Miamisburg Beer : Miamisburg’s First Brewer

June 1 @ 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Join us at Star City Brewery for a captivating evening as we delve into the rich history of Miamisburg beer!

Embark on a journey through time as we uncover the fascinating stories and traditions behind Miamisburg’s brewing heritage. This inaugural presentation, titled “Miamisburg’s First Brewer,” will shed light on the life and legacy of Henry Emde, the pioneering brewer who laid the foundation for Miamisburg’s brewing tradition.

Henry Emde’s story will take you back to the early days of Miamisburg, where he witnessed the construction of the Miami Canal right across the street from his brewery. As one of the earliest settlers and entrepreneurs in the area, Emde played a vital role in shaping the village’s identity.

Learn how the Miami Canal powered Miamisburg’s industrial district, laying the groundwork for what is now the bustling brewing district of our community. This presentation, presented by Tim Gaffney, an Ohio author and longtime Miamisburg resident, will offer insights into the symbiotic relationship between the canal and the breweries, highlighting their integral role in Miamisburg’s growth and development.

Tim Gaffney is an Ohio author who has called Miamisburg home since 1979. The retired journalist has authored 16 books, most recently “Dayton Beer”—a look at early brewers in the Dayton region. His next book will reveal untold stories about Miamisburg’s early brewers.

This event is free and open to the public. While attendance is complimentary, you can support the presenter by purchasing his book, “Dayton Beer,” available for sale during the event.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a beer connoisseur, or simply looking for a fun night out, this event is not to be missed!
