Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please arrive early to fill out an audition form, which will include a listing of any conflicts between September 15 and the closing of the show on November 2.

Character Breakdown (some actors will play multiple parts):
OSKAR: (M) – His troubled home life and struggles with school bullies render him a quiet and vulnerable boy. His loneliness shifts when he finds a profound connection with Eli. 12-15, but actor must be 18+.
ELI: (F) – Seems like an eccentric yet normal young girl but is in fact a centuries old vampire. Extremely agile. Can seem somewhat cold and distant but connects with Oskar. 12-15, but actor must be 18+.
HAKAN: (M) – Neighbors believe him to be Eli’s father, but this is not the case. He loves Eli very deeply and will do anything for them. Anything. 40s-60s.
MUM: (F) – Loves Oskar and is well-meaning but struggles with looking after him and resents his father’s post-divorce lack of involvement in his life. 30s-40s.
JONNY: (M or F) – Classic school bully. Enjoys making Oskar’s life miserable. Teenager, but actor must be 18+.
MICKE: (M or F) – Jonny’s sidekick. Joins in bullying Oskar, but more hesitant. Teenager, but actor must be 18+.
HALMBERG: (M) – Policeman. Perplexed by the goings-on but trying to keep everyone safe and calm. 30s-50s.
MR AVILA: (M) – PE teacher at school and one of Oskar’s few allies. 30s-50s
KURT: A sweetshop owner who doesn’t have time for annoying children but regards Oskar with sympathy. 30s-50s.
DAD: Estranged, emotionally distant, and somewhat irresponsible. 30s-50s.
NILS: Hospital receptionist
JANNE: Oskar’s dad’s girlfriend
STEFAN: Train conductor
JIMMY: Jonny’s older brother and the bully to end all bullies.
TORKEL and JOCKE: Local drunks who don’t get home that night
