‘My Skeleton Hurts’
February 7 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Dutoit Gallery is excited to present an exhibition of long term member Nicholaus Arnold’s newest body of work titled ‘My Skeleton Hurts’ opening February 7th 6-9pm at Front Street Studios!
This exhibition is a re-examination of Nicholaus Arnold’s works from the past 25 years. He’s analytically included what folks have considered his best and worst works and taken a new perspective on them in regard to why they might be ‘good’, or fucked. They weren’t good. They might be Fucked. They’ve always been trying to entertain you.
Why would this acclaimed Dayton artist take on such a nuanced yet heavy handed approach?
This exhibition is meant to give the works a new perception; a view of the art as death and the artist’s anxiety ridden mind knowing he has a family curse that’s supposed to kill every male in the family (or give them a potentially fatal diagnosis) at the age of 42.
The small cadre male Arnolds left; continued to be haunted by ‘the curse’. This small sect of the leftover Arnold’s that arrived in Dayton Ohio in the 1920’s is survived by Nick, his Dad, and his Uncle. Nick’s Dad and Uncle lived through the curse, albeit with varying degrees of terminal illnesses. Nick is awaiting his 43rd birthday later this month. Hopefully there’s always gonna be another show…
