“Ohio’s Awesome Women” by Hylda Strang
May 20 @ 7:00 pm
Free
JOIN us on TUESDAY, May 20, for “Ohio’s Awesome Women” by Hylda Strange. This free presentation starts at 7 PM at RecPlex West, 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Road.
You may know Harriet Beecher Stowe & Annie Oakley — but how about MaryAnn Bickerdyke, Victoria Woodhull, Geraldine Mock, or Charity Adams? Author, pilot, politician, nurse, and soldier might be some of the titles these women claimed. Learn about their connection to Ohio and how each woman made history in their own way.
Growing up in the Belmont area of Dayton, Hylda Strange attended Stivers High School and Otterbein College. Major interests include: history, gardening, and antiques. She and her husband, Jerry, are members of four historical societies. They own and have restored two old houses: the 1820s Thomas Collins house in Ripley, OH (which was part of the Underground Railroad) and the c.1833 Aaron Nutt Jr. House in Centerville.
This FREE presentation is open to the public. Reservations are not required. Donations welcome. Enjoy refreshments starting at 6:30 pm and the program from 7-8 pm in the auditorium. For more information, call Centerville-Washington History at 937-433-0123 or visit centervillewashingtonhistory.org.
