Small Band Saturday”

November 25, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm

$15 – $20
Two live bands will “light up” the Boonshoft Planetarium the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Billed as “Small Band Saturday” the two bands will include Cincinnati’s CC3 (Chris Comer Trio) who has played in the planetarium before; and Dead Centric, an all-Grateful Dead tribute band. Weather permitting, the Apollo Observatory will be open for guests to view the sky though the museum’s 20-inch telescope. Drinks and adult refreshments will also be available.
The Chris Comer Trio – CC3 brings a high level of musicianship and improvisation that will appeal to fans of jam bands such as The Grateful Dead and Phish as well as classics like Pink Floyd and Brian Eno. CC3’s music features elements of jazz, ambient, funk, psychedelia, rock and free improvisation. The music will be a perfect match for the projection of the night sky and the special effects provided by the planetarium head-space environment.
CC3 has released three new albums on bandcamp including “Live At The Dayton Planetarium” recorded last year at the same Boonshoft Planetarium. Free downloads of these albums are available at CC3music.bandcamp.com
Dead Centric is one of Ohio’s leading jam bands “centered” on the music and free flowing spirit of the Grateful Dead. Every performance is different with unique interpretations and combinations of Grateful Dead favorites and more.
Tickets for Small Band Saturday are $20/$15 for museum members the night of the event at The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery.
