The CareSource Invitational — Dayton Supporting Mental Health will be held at the University of Dayton (UD) Arena on Oct. 20, offering a neutral-site doubleheader event to raise money for a local nonprofit closely associated with UD’s athletics program.
Northern Kentucky University (NKU) will face Ashland University at 6 p.m., followed by Wright State University taking on Ohio University approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game, or around 8:10 p.m.
The game between NKU and Ashland marks the first time the two schools have played one another, and the last time Wright State faced Ohio was in 2014, when the Bobcats narrowly defeated the Raiders, ending the game with a score of 56-54.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Jay’s Light, a nonprofit working to raise awareness and provide mental health resources for youth and young adults. Jay’s Light was founded in memory of UD Coach Anthony Grant’s daughter, Jayda, who died in 2022 as a result of mental illness.
In 2023, Caresource’s first charity benefit game raised approximately $500,000 to support adolescent and young adult mental health and suicide prevention initiatives.
