‘The Wit and Wisdom of Lincoln’

he next monthly program offered by the Lincoln Society of Dayton is “The Wit and Wisdom of Lincoln” 2 p.m. April 12 at the Woodbourne Library, 6060 Far Hills Ave., Dayton. Admission is free.
Speaker is Christopher Burns, an accomplished and experienced Civil War historian, who has conducted significant academic and historical research and has presented various Civil War presentations to audiences throughout the Midwest since 2015. He is a former adjunct history faculty member at Northern Kentucky University.
The Lincoln Society of Dayton unveiled a bronze statue of Lincoln in 2016 at the Old Courthouse in Dayton to honor the 157th anniversary of the speech he gave in 1859, which was against the expansion of slavery. The society was also instrumental in the 2024 installation at the Dayton VA Medical Center of a statue of Lincoln, pen in hand, signing legislation establishing the National Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Asylum for Civil War veterans.
