Three great local alternative bands, Swearing At Motorists, Human Cannonball, Smug Brothers have come together for a very unique benefit show for Dayton musician Ian Kaplan [of Motel Beds, Lioness, Lab Partners] who recently underwent a liver transplant. This is a cool way for the bands to give back to Ian. He once rescued Smug Brothers when their regular drummer and fellow Dayton music writer Don Thrasher fell ill the day of the release show for their Fortune Rumors album. Ian volunteered to learn their set the day of the show and did an incredible job.

That’s not the only cool thing about this show. While Human Cannonball and Smug Brothers will open the show with live performances at Yellow Cab, Swearing At Motorists will be performing via live video feed from Hamburg, Germany. Wow!

How to Go? Head over to Yellow Cab Tavern Saturday, July 28th. Doors open at 8pm

Tickets are $7 advance, or $10 at the door.

Artwork for “Attic Harvest” by Smug Brothers

The other way you can get involved in the Dayton music scene, whether you attend the event or not, is by helping Smug Brothers get their “Attic Harvest“ album release on vinyl! The band commissioned original collage artwork to grace the covers from FLIRST Handmade Collages in Cagliari, Italy. This is a 30-DAY fundraiser, wrapping up on August 16. The band explains “We’re very excited about the way these 18 tracks flow as a listening experience and how the artwork we’ve got going for it is a great visual component. It would be such a thrill for us to put this one out on vinyl.” Visit this link for more information on how you can help!
