Art Activity: Great Black Artists
At this fun afterschool program kids get to listen to a book, study an artist’s works, and create a related artwork!
In February, we’re studying great Black artists. For example, one week we will read a biography of Edmonia Lewis, view a digital gallery of her famous sculptures, and create our own sculptures using air-dry clay.

Ins and Outs of Container Gardening
Join us for a lesson in gardening in containers from Ohio State University’s Agriculture and Natural Resources department. This month we’ll be discussing how to maintain indoor gardens, what types of containers are good to use, and windowsill gardening.

Driver’s License Reinstatement Clinic
Wondering if your driver’s license can be reinstated? During this clinic you will meet with attorneys from the Montgomery County Office of the Public Defender to discuss what is causing the blocks prohibiting you from getting your license, and strategize possible approaches to remove those blocks.
This is a walk-in event. Sign-ups will begin at 12:00 pm and end at 3:00pm in order to give our attorneys enough time to speak with each patron. There will not be any funds available at this clinic to pay fines
Cooking Classes with Afromeals: Evening in Jamaica
In this class we teach Jamaican cooking. Callaloo and Plantain is a dish cooked not only in Jamaica but certain parts of the Caribbean and certain West African countries. Callaloo is known as a Jamaican spinach. It is cooked along with peppers, onions, and garlic. With an amazing earthy aroma and great taste. It pairs great with fried plantain. For those who are not aware of plantain it comes from the banana family. The ripped plantain is sweet and tastes like sweet potatoes and normally pairs with savory foods.

Due to the hands-on nature of this program, all participants must sign a waiver prior to participating. Physical copies of the waiver will be available the day of the program.

About the Artist: Jen Perkins is an Ohio-based artist with a BFA in Fine Arts and Art Therapy. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including multiple projects for The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, and is part of numerous permanent collections.
Maggie Ross, an American ex-pat and a recognized Naxian marble sculptor and instructor is based in Greece.
