Small businesses comprise the majority of downtown Dayton’s retail and dining scene. Celebrate our city’s eclectic collection of local entrepreneurs on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28. In addition to high quality products and services, and outstanding customer service these shops are well-known for, many locations will offer special sales events, give-aways, complimentary items, and other features that make this day extra special for shoppers.
While you’re shopping in the Oregon District, make sure to participate in the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s Christmas in the Oregon District Contest! The contest kicks off on Small Business Saturday and runs through Dec. 20. Pick up your stamp card from any participating Oregon District Business, get 8 stamps by purchasing 1 item from 8 different businesses and drop the card off at Lily’s Bistro, BRIM or Sew Dayton by Dec 20th to enter. For details, click here.
Remember, when you support local businesses, you are making an investment directly in your community. In a recent study, 48% of each purchase at local independent businesses was recirculated locally, compared to less than 14% of purchases at chain stores. When you buy local, you get a great gift for those special people on your shopping list, and you’ll ensure more people in your community have a happy holiday season, as well!
Lots of stores are having special discounts and special events! Take advantage of these great deals – and many more!
Sew Dayton will have local artisans in the shop selling their handmade items. They have giveaways all day and the spinner of winners and whammy’s are back! They have some amazing new items perfect for stocking stuffers and always will have gift cards that come in any amount. Great gift for pre-teen girls who are at that awkward “what to buy” stage!
Don’t forget to stop by Clash Dayton for free gift wrapping and 30% off vintage clothing, shoes, bags and scarves! If you have a vintage lover on your list, there’s no better place to shop. (Plus you can get started on your Oregon District stamp card!)
Or just enjoy the day, and sip on Ghostlight Coffee or savor a candy cane while you shop the selection of scarves, socks, shave creams, jewelry — oh yeah, and hats — at BRIM.
And if you haven’t had the chance to visit one of the newest businesses in the Oregon District, this Saturday offers the perfect opportunity to #ShopSmall and check out Heart on 5th. Fair warning: You just may find yourself walking away with as many purchases for yourself as you do for names on your shopping list!
