Bessies HomeMade Noodles that opened in Fairborn in February of this year, in Fairborn has shut its retail doors.
Owner Monica Easterling and her husband bought the building two years ago to use for manufacturing, but the front had previously been set up as a butcher shop and they thought it would be a great addition to their fair and grocery noodle business
Bessie was Monica’s great-grandmother. She passed away more than a 35 years ago, but Monica remembers learning to make the egg noodles by her side using the simple recipe of flour, water, eggs and “foo-foo dust,” as Monica calls the secret seasoning that makes Bessie’s so popular.
Here’s the announcement they posted on their Facebook page:
“Our deli is now permanently closed. Our building will be used for our manufacturing and distribution and is not open to the public. Thank you for those of you who came out to support us. However, it was not enough to keep it open. You may still purchase our noodles at your local grocery store in the freezer section.”
Sincerely,
Matt & Monica Easterling
You’ll still find Bessie’s noodles at fairs and festivals around town and in the frozen cases at Kroger or Dorothy Lane Market or your local grocery store.
