The Legacy Pancake House on Keowee caught on first early this morning. According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, the call for a fire at the Legacy Pancake House on North Keowee Street came in around 5:30 am when an employee showed up to open and noticed smoke from the building.
Upon arrival, fire crews saw heavy flames coming from the roof.
Dayton District Fire Chief David Grubb reported that no one was inside and there were no injuries.He also said that the roof is completely gone and the building is believed to be a total loss.
It’s not clear what caused the fire. Fire investigators have not been able to get inside the restaurant to start their investigation due to the collapsed roof, Grubb said.
The restaurant, which was the original home to the Golden Nugget. The Nugget moved to Dorothy Lnad and in 2007 business partners Sam Kourlas and Louie Polus purchased the building and opened The Legacy Pancake House.
