A little Hole in the Wall in the Oregon District will be rocking out Thursday night starting at 9pm, as Ruckus Robiticus makes a return to his hometown for the release of Phantom Of The Disco. Even better, entry into the event is free!
Born and raised in Dayton, Ruckus Roboticus was endowed with Dayton’s creative spirit, D.I.Y. grit, and FUNK POWER. Full of energy and imagination – he discovered scratching on the B-side of the first record he ever bought: DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. It wasn’t long until he was playing with scratches using his Muppets Show LP and sister’s turntable. Inspired by music magazines and CDs purchased from the “Experimental / Electronica” section of his local record store (where he would later work, and would eventually meet his future wife), he was soon experimenting with looping and layering audio on his parents’ primitive home computer. Eventually he decided to make some “experimental” music of his own – and his musical instrument of choice would be the turntable.
While Ruckus is not quite yet a household name, his music has aired on TV and Radio worldwide, and he’s performed all over the globe, often times sharing the stage with very well known artists. He’s won a few awards, remixed some awesome bands, and received some noteworthy critical acclaim. He started his own record label – Dance Or Die Records (named after his wildly popular dance party in Ohio) – to release his and his friends’ dance music. He’s been the man behind the music at ARC Ohio’s Masquerage, The Rubi Girl Shows and more.
In 2013 – Ruckus Roboticus moved to Los Angeles to intensify his pursuit of music making and record playing. Despite some flourishes of success, Ruckus remains somewhat under the radar – working tirelessly in the studio on a slew of new remixes, music for television, and looking for the perfect beat. Song by song, and mix by mix, Ruckus continues to delight listeners around the world. It’s only a matter of time until the music masses realize, this is the dawning of The Age Of Roboticus!
