Taxpayers claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Child Tax Credit (CTC) can have tax returns prepared and filed free by IRS-trained volunteers throughout the tax season at sites and special events presented by the local VITA Coalition.EITC and CTC are two of the nation’s largest anti-poverty programs, helping lift millions of workers and children out of poverty each year. The tax credits are more valuable than ever, ranging from $510 for workers with no dependents to $6,318 for some families. Eligible taxpayers must file a federal income tax return in order to claim the credits.
