Shop for Fair Trade, Handmade and Eco Friendly Goods Opens in Oakwood

January 21, 2022 By Lisa Grigsby

Lindsay, founder of Maraluna

The newest store in the Shops of Oakwood , Maraluna, officially opens today, having moved from 6 years in its location in Troy .  Owner Lindsay says she created Maraluna back in 2015 out of a love for the beautiful handmade goods she discovered while volunteering and studying abroad.

She describes Maraluna as “a consciously curated neighborhood shop dedicated to connecting global communities through ethical and sustainable goods that nourish the soul. We are part of a maker-led movement, building a circular economy by transforming trade into a force for good. I fell in love with the rich colors, textures, and flavors of the world around us. I began to dream of ways to bring those bright, beautiful goods back to my community.  I wanted to create a marketplace where my friends and neighbors could authentically connect to the makers of these goods, and be empowered with the knowledge of how and why these goods make a difference – when we shop fair trade, handmade, and eco-friendly, the makers who craft these goods are building and empowering their communities while helping to protect the planet we all share.”
You’ll find handmade textiles from Cambodia, Pakistan, Ghana, and beyond. Home goods, clothing, jewelry, purses and great gift items that nourish the soul.
