Appliance Recycling Weekend

June 8, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

Montgomery County is hosting an Appliance Amnesty weekend, allowing residents to dispose of old appliances for free. Montgomery County Environmental Services offers special disposal programs to prevent illegal dumping, promote recycling, and protect our soil and waterways from pollution or contamination.

Residents can bring their appliances to the Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Facility, where licensed technicians will remove any refrigerant, such as Freon™, free of charge. Metal components will be recycled rather than placed in a landfill. Microwaves, small counter-top appliances or outdoor grills are not accepted as part of this program, but these items will be accepted for a nominal fee.

You can drop off your appliances at the Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Facility this weekend:

  • Friday, June 8  6 am to 8 pm
  • Saturday, June 9  8am to 3 pm
Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Facility is located at  1001 Encrete Ln, Dayton, OH 45459
Other ways to dispose of appliances:
Save up to $150 on your energy bill every year by letting DP&L pick up and recycle your old (working) refrigerator or freezer. Plus, they’ll pay you $50 per appliance. Get an additional $20 if you have an older, inefficient room air conditioner or dehumidifier we can pick up at the same time. They do the heavy lifting, and nearly 95% of the components will be reused or recycled.

It’s easy! Just click the button below or call 877-889-4765 to schedule your free pickup.

A representative will haul away your old appliance for FREE, take it to be recycled, and you will receive your rebate payment.

Make Money From Recycling Your Old Appliances

June 1, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

The Montgomery County Environmental Services will host an Appliance Amnesty weekend, allowing residents to dispose of old appliances for free. Montgomery County Environmental Services offers special disposal programs to prevent illegal dumping, promote recycling, and protect our soil and waterways from pollution or contamination.

Beginning Thursday, June 1 through Saturday, June 3, Montgomery County is waiving its normal appliance drop-off charge at the facility as part of the event. Additionally, DP&L will pay you $50 for each old working refrigerator or freezer and $20 for each working room air conditioner or dehumidifier.

Appliances will be accepted at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility, located at 1001 Encrete Lane inMoraine at the following times:

  • Thursday, June 1 from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Friday, June 2 from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Saturday, June 3 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

In addition to this program, Dayton Power and Lights will allow customers from any county to bring in a working refrigerator, freezer, room air conditioner or dehumidifier and earn money at the recycling facility.

Dayton Power and Light is offering $50 rebates for each working refrigerator or freezer dropped off during this week’s Appliance Amnesty Weekend at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility.

You continue to save money because removing old appliances can save up to $150 in energy costs each year. In turn, you will be helping the environment; almost 100 percent of the materials in the appliances are recyclable.

For more information about Appliance Amnesty Weekend, visit Montgomery County Solid Waste District’s website.

If you can’t make it to Appliance Amnesty Weekend, visit DP&L’s website for more information about DP&L’s ongoing Appliance Recycling Program. DP&L will pick up your appliance for free and pay you a $50 rebate to improve your energy efficiency and help you save on your energy costs.
