From the same amazing leader that has brought Dayton Fashion week and De-Fi, Caressa Brown is launching another project- a retail concept that provides an opportunity for independent brands to showcase and retail their collections directly to customers
Dayton Threads will be the home for Independent Fashion and Design. You’ll find clothing, shoes, accessories, homeware goods, and beauty products that are handmade or sewn by artisan teams of 10 people or less that are paid for their services. Nothing sold at Dayton Threads can be a product of mass production, unless it was repurposed- you purchased a shirt at a big chain store or a local thrift shop a few years ago that you no longer wear or doesn’t fit, you’ve altered it and now it’s a dress or a skirt or if you refurbished an old chair; these are examples of items will be accepted.
All products must be made in the USA and we are asking designers to take a pledge to committing to move towards their line being 100% ethically sourced, sustainable and slave free in 3 years…we will be tracking. You do not need to be from Dayton or live in Dayton to sell your designs or products via Dayton Threads. All designs and products will also be available for purchase on our website. Vendor products will not be accepted.
Dayton Threads will also work in conjunction with The House of DEFIance: A Fashion & Design Co-working Experience and represents Phase III of the fashion and design process; the tangible product. Micro-manufacturing services of 50 pieces or less and prototyping will be offered in Phase II of The House of (DE-FI)ance. Designers selling in Dayton Threads will have the option of using the services of the
Dayton Garment And Textile District to assist with the production of their designs, or they can bring their own team in and use the equipment in Phase II, they can also bring their own equipment in and simply make use of the space to produce their designs for Dayton Threads or other boutiques or clients that you are selling your work.
Dayton Threads will offer packages for designers needing assistance with campaign ads for their line. We’ll have various packages available for designers to hire models, wardrobe stylist, Hair and Makeup Artist, photographers, and videographers.
We offer indie designers (3) flexible and competitive fee structures as well:
1) Receive the full retail price of any products sold via Dayton Threads minus commission of 25%.
2) Pay a $150/mo and receive the full retail price of any products sold via Dayton Threads minus commission of 5%.
3) We understand that COVID-19 has thrown a wrench into a lot of budgets and the fashion industry has been hit the hardest, so if neither of these options work for you right now, we’re also open to negotiations…let’s work together!
We are inviting buyers to scout designers who are selling via Dayton Threads…we don’t want you to stay in the micro-manufacturing stage, we want you to grow! Each Designer featured at Dayton Threads will also have a launch event that will include a runway experience or showcase of your work. Visit http://www.daytonthreads.com for more details.
