With over 4000 nonprofits in the Miami Valley, it’s not surprising how many charity fundraisers are held each month!  Here are some of the events we’d like to highlight this month:

Feed the Hungry: A Community Meal Packing Event Coffman Family YMCA

We’re inviting the entire community to join us at the Coffman Family YMCA in 1 of 4 shifts to pack dehydrated meals that will be shipped to select nations and peoples in Central America. This event is great for everyone–families, students, and even kids as young as 4 years old!
Shift options are at 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm, and 4pm. Each shift will last one hour. This partnership between Southwest Church and the Coffman Family YMCA benefits the efforts and ministry of Lifeline Christian Mission.
A small fee of $10 per person (per session) is required to help offset the cost of food we’ll be packing, but you’ll also get an event T-shirt! Payment (cash or checks made payable to Southwest Church) will be accepted at the door on the day of the event.

Sing Out Loud

Culture Works will be launching this year’s Campaign for the Arts with a special performance at the Victoria Theatre! You’ll hear from the Culture Works team and Dr. Sue Edwards, President of Wright State University and this year’s Campaign Chair, about the importance of supporting our local creative community.

The stars of the program are our friends and neighbors! SING OUT LOUD will feature more than 100 local arts champions coming together as one choir singing familiar songs from the stage and the screen. You’ll be certain to spot a familiar face or two on stage, and you’ll leave with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.   Tix: $28

Women of Influence

Since 1998, the YWCA Dayton WOI Awards have recognized and honored more than 180 influential women in the Dayton area, visionaries and thought leaders who have made a difference in our community through their dedication to the YWCA mission of empowering women, eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Honorees in the Women of Influence Class of 2023 are:

 Dayton Metro Library Book Sale

Dayton Metro Library – Burkhardt Branch 4680 Burkhardt Ave, Dayton, OH

The Friends of the Dayton Metro Library will hold a used book sale on Saturday, March 11 at the Dayton Metro Library Burkhardt Branch, located at 4680 Burkhardt Rd., Dayton. The sale includes used books for children, teens and adults as well as music, movies and audiobooks. Most items have been weeded from the library’s collection. The sale opens for Friends of the Library members from 9:30 a.m. to noon and open to the public from noon-5 p.m

Night at the Races

An evening of Horse betting and fun! Place cash bets on the horses of your choice. Races are run by video broadcasts. Raffles & betting proceeds benefit the GDAA Rent Foundation; a non-profit, charitable organization that provides rental assistance to GDAA members’ residents who are unable to pay their rent due to illness, family tragedy or unfortunate circumstances, in some cases preventing homelessness.
Only persons 21 and over are permitted to attend.   Tix $20

Miamisburg Band Fish Fry Fundraiser

We will be serving fried fish or chicken tenders, fries, cole slaw & applesauce. Dessert will be available for purchase at our bake sale (everything $1!).  Make sure you stick around for performances by our MMS and High School Jazz Bands. Stop by our basket raffle- Each class is donating items toward a themed basket. Which class will earn the most mone??   Tix $15 – $20

Family & Youth Initiatives (FYI) mission is to empower families and provide hope. Every day families and children are suffering from traumas caused by generational cycles of abuse and poverty. FYI’s solution is to rescue and protect those families and children to prevent future trauma by redirecting their paths through education, training, and support in our multiple programs.

We invite you to join us for their spring fundraising dinner, graciously hosted by the Knights of Columbus #3724. The evening promises to provide a unique insight into the challenges that our families and children are facing everyday. We will share how we are addressing these issues and how you can be part of the solution. The night will begin with a pulled pork dinner (and sides), made from scratch by the Knights. Dessert and drinks are included with the price of admission. Tickets for the event are $15 per adult, $5 per child (16 & under), with a maximum group price of $40 per family.

Euchre Tournament & Fundraiser

An evening with friends while raising money for The Baum!New to The Baum, we will be offering a Euchre tournament once a month. Cash prizes for top 3 winners. Drinks and snacks available to purchase. $20 entry fee. A great opportunity to meet fellow card players and get out of the house!  Enjoy a variety of delicious desserts made by some of the city’s best bakers! Even better, wash it down with Nimbus Comic Cafe’s wonderful Ethiopian coffee! This wonderful event funds The Engele Community Center and many participating foodologists!

Each entry ticket includes one round of each vendor’s specialty dessert as well as a judge’s ticket to cast your vote on the best dessert! The winner will cater Engele’ Community Center’s upcoming event! Tix $22

Dayton March for Science Fundraiser!

Come out to BD’s Mongolian Grill and help support the March for Science – Dayton! On April 22nd we plan to make our voices heard with others across the nation in support of science in our community here in Dayton and in our legislation nationally. We need your help to get there! Pay one price for soup, salad, stir-fry bowl and fountain drink (tax included) – Tickets $25 for adults, just $7 for children age 2-10.

Euchre Tournament

Join us for an evening of fun, clean competition as we pair up and play the popular trick-taking card game, Euchre. Participants compete as individuals. Light refreshments will be provided and gift cards will be given to the top winners.   Tournament for ages 18+.  Registration Deadline: March 16 at 5 pm.    $8 – $10
