The Dayton Metro Library’s new Burkhardt Branch will open to the public on Monday, April 25 at 9:30 am, thus resuming its regular operating hours. The 17,800 square-foot building is East Dayton/Riverside’s newest asset to offer library services and community meeting space.

Amenities in the new Burkhardt Branch include:

  • Opportunity Space
  • Quiet reading room with a fireplace
  • Community Room
  • Free meeting spaces
  • Open common area
  • Enclosed outdoor reading terrace
  • “Soaring Beyond” themed Children’s Area
  • TeenEDGE area with a gaming system
  • Copy nook
  • Increased number of laptops
  • Early literacy computers
  • Presentation equipment
  • Bookstore-style displays
  • Ample parking

Additionally, the Branch is home to four original art installations as part of the ReImagining Works project from artists Carrie Longley, Deborah Dixon, Tracy-Longley-Cook, and InsideOut Studio.

The new Burkhardt Branch location is 4704 Burkhardt Avenue, right across Shedborne Avenue from the original location. It is the latest new Branch to be completed as part of DML’s Libraries for a Smarter Future multi-year facilities project. Two remaining Branches will receive new buildings as part of this project: Northmont and Huber Heights.

Regular operating hours are Monday/Tuesday/Thursday: 9:30 am – 8:30 pm, Wednesday/Friday/Saturday: 9:30 am – 6 pm, and closed Sunday. Programming at the new Branch will begin soon.
