The City of Dayton has announced the appointment of Monica Jones as manager of the Division of Management and Budget, effective immediately.
As division manager, Jones will assist the Director of Procurement, Management & Budget with oversight and evaluation of organization-wide budgets, management control systems, policies and planning, and day-to-day operations and expenditures.
Jones will also direct the management of the City’s intergovernmental relations activities, including legislative and policy issues at the federal, state, and local levels. She will lead teams and task forces related to special initiatives.
Jones joined the City of Dayton in 2012 and worked as a management analyst until 2015. She then joined the Office of the City Manager as Assistant to the City Manager. Her accomplishments include co-leadership of a team managing the $17+ million program to apply and distribute federal CARES Act funds in mitigation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before the City of Dayton, Jones worked as a budget officer for the City of Smyrna, Georgia. She earned a B.S. in Public Affairs and a Master of Public Affairs at Indiana University.
“Dayton’s residents and business community have already benefitted from the excellent management of public resources provided by Monica,” said City Manager Shelley Dickstein. “I am confident she will continue to bring innovation and sound management to City programs and operations.”
