It’s official- Ohio voters will get to vote on legalizing recreational marijuana on the November 7th ballot. Yesterday Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose notified the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol that supporters of an adult-use cannabis legalization initiative had collected enough valid signatures from registered voters, eclipsing the threshold needed to place the proposal on the ballot for an election this fall.

If passed, the ballot initiative would legalize possession and home cultivation of marijuana for adults and allow for commercial production and sales of regulated adult-use cannabis. Individuals 21 and older will be able to legally possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, with a 10% tax being imposed on all recreational marijuana purchases. Adults 21 and older will be able to grow their own plants as well.
