Favorite Super Bowl Foods
A new study has revealed America’s favorite Super Bowl foods, with some gameday classics appearing further down the list than you might expect. JeffBet analyzed 75 popular Super Bowl party foods, using more than 4,000 search combinations, such as ‘how to make ___’ and ‘___ recipe’ in order to find which gameday snacks are being searched for the most.
A spokesperson for JeffBet commented on the findings, saying:
“From classic finger foods to hearty snacks, it’s evident that people across the country have a wide array of culinary choices when it comes to enjoying the big game.”
“The findings highlight the dynamic and inclusive nature of Super Bowl food culture, showcasing the various tastes and traditions that contribute to the overall game day
In Ohio, pizza takes the lead as the most searched Super Bowl food, with an impressive monthly search volume of 169,249.

Chili secures the second position with a monthly search volume of 84,011, and Buffalo Chicken Dip claims the third spot with 44,198 monthly searches.

Nationally, in first place – perhaps unsurprisingly – is the humble pizza. It was found to be the most searched for Super Bowl food in all but seven states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia), and is searched nationally on average 6.2 million times per month.
In second place is chili, with 3.04 million monthly searches on average. Almost universally, it was found to be the nation’s second favorite Super Bowl food. Chili was the most searched-for Super Bowl food in three states, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee, and was the second most searched food in the remaining 47 states.
Third place goes to deviled eggs, with 571,168 searches per month on average. Deviled eggs came third in 21 states, with the highest number of searches coming out from California, averaging 52,659 monthly searches.
In fourth place is Buffalo chicken dip, with an average of 511,931 monthly searches.
Fifth place goes to guacamole. The avocado-based dip racks up 393,535 searches a month on average nationwide. The people of New York and Hawaii were the top searchers for guacamole, with the dip ranking as their third favorite Super Bowl food.
Chicken wings rank surprisingly low in seventh place, with 351,064 monthly searches nationwide. Chicken wings were the most popular in Nevada where they ranked as the state’s fourth most searched for food.

Eighth place goes to Sloppy Joes. The sandwich consisting of saucy ground beef and onions was searched on average 322,650 times per month across the nation. Sloppy Joes were the found to be the most popular in Colorado, Minnesota and North Dakota, where the sandwich ranked fourth.
In ninth place is bruschetta. This Italian antipasto sees 300,969 monthly searches nationwide on average.
Rounding out the list in tenth place are quesadillas. This classic Mexican dish is searched 296,268times per month on average nationwide.
Super Bowl LVIII kicks off at 6:30pm at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.

Fat Tuesday Buffet at Amber Rose
Cajun food is not what you normally associate with a restaurant that specialaizes in German, Lithuanian, Polish, Hungarian, Russian and Italian dishes, but the key factor behind Amber Rose’s cajun and creole inspired Fat Tuesday menu is Chef T.J. Peterson. He grew up in New Orleans.
“My grandmother was a master baker and she always tried to get me in the kitchen with her, but I just wanted to lick the bowl,” Peterson said. “I lived in a shot gun house with my mom and my grandparents lived next door. We cooked Cajun, Creole, Italian and so much more and food brought us all together.”
Peterson has been a chef at Amber Rose for 16 years and he looks forward to this one day a year he can serve up his family recipes. “I love giving folks a chance to get a taste of New Orleans,” said Chef T.J. “Even if they can’t travel there, they can go there through the food.”
The buffet will include Gumbo, Seafood Crepes, Red Beans & Rice, Shrimp & Sausage Jambalaya, Dirty Rice, Cajun Seafood Pasta, Shrimp & Cheesy Grits,Big Easy Chicken and Steak Orlean’s.
And you’ll want to save room for desserts, which will include Bananas Foster Bread Pudding and Black Bottom Bourbon Pecan Pie.
Tickets are $40 and must be prepaid, which you can do online. The buffet will be served from 5-7pm in the upstairs banquet room on Tues, Feb 13th. Due to the historic nature of the building, there is no elevator access.

Nashville Singer Parker McCollum at the Nutter Center
A mostly solitary songwriter prior to his entrée into Nashville, Parker has now written with some of country music’s finest. Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose (a.k.a. The Love Junkies), David Lee Murphy, Brett James, and Ashley Gorley all contribute to Never Enough, along with Parker’s Texas peers Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, and Ryan Beaver.
“That’s been the biggest change since coming to Nashville: having access to some of the best songwriters in the world and sitting in a room with them to write,” Parker says. “The way these songwriters care and write, it’s from a place that I think I do as well. It’s made me look at songwriting differently.”
The proof is in Parker’s chart history. He scored his first-ever No. 1 country hit with 2020’s “Pretty Heart,” his debut single. “To Be Loved by You” followed suit, also hitting No. 1. Now, he’s staring down a career-making single in “Burn It Down,” a moody, smoldering break-up song that equates a busted relationship to a house reduced to just ashes and smoke.
Written with the Love Junkies, “Burn It Down” was born during a writing session at Parker’s home, where he spontaneously started singing the words “burn it down” over and over again. “Some days are like that, where the melody and the idea for the song is so good and everybody is on the same page,” he says. “If you’re talking about moving the needle in my career, ‘Burn It Down’ is probably going to be the song.”
Parker lives for the type of spontaneous creation that happened that day. He’ll often challenge himself to write a song without changing a single word. He did that with “Too Tight This Time.” With a pretty acoustic guitar lick, a Dobro guest shot by Jerry Douglas, and a heavy dose of humility and introspection in Parker’s vocal performance, “Too Tight This Time” is Parker’s favorite track on Never Enough.
“I said, ‘Let’s pour this thing out and whatever it is in 15 minutes, that’s what it’s going to be forever.’ I love to write songs like that and live with the end result. This one was easy to do because the melody was so good,” he says. “The line ‘There must be something broken inside this lonely man’ just hits so hard.”
For all his quiet strength and rough-hewn masculinity, Parker isn’t afraid to bare his soul. But, ironically, one of the most personal songs on Never Enough is the only song he didn’t write: “Things I Never Told You,” penned by Monty Criswell, Lynn Hutton, and Taylor Phillips, parallels Parker’s relationship with his mother. “When I moved away from home/I didn’t realize how much I’d miss ya,” he sings. “A phone call don’t take the place/of your smilin’ face cooking in that kitchen.”

Five Rivers MetroParks’ locations are home to 160 miles of natural surface trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The greater Dayton region is home to more than 340 miles of paved recreation trails – the nation’s largest paved trail network – and 270 miles of river corridor.
In 2023, hundreds of participants collectively completed 6,163 trails totaling 11,134 miles of human powered travel – longer than the distance from Antarctica to the United States.

“The Trails Challenge is an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to explore trails they might not normally visit,” said outdoor recreation coordinator Jordan Hart. “Participants can do this on their own time and at their own pace, making it accessible for anyone who wants to be active and outdoors. Plus, we have several programs offered throughout the challenge for people to try exploring the trails in ways they may not be able to otherwise, like horseback riding, paddling and mountain biking.”

Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials w/ Noah Wotherspoon
Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials take the stage at The Hidden Gem Music Club for a great evening of blues. From smoking slide guitar boogies to raw-boned Chicago shuffles to the deepest slow blues, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Lil’ Ed Williams is an awe-inspiring master bluesman. The band’s big sound, fueled by Lil’ Ed’s gloriously rollicking slide work and deep blues string bending, along with his rough-edged, soulful vocals, is as real and hard-hitting as Chicago blues gets. The Chicago Sun-Times says, “Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials are the hottest purveyors of bottleneck boogie to come out of Chicago since Hound Dog Taylor.”

WYSO Receives $5 Million Grant
For the fourth time in as many years, WYSO has been awarded major funding from the Mellon Foundation to support The HBCU Radio Preservation Project. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the WYSO Archives and the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), supports radio stations at Historically Black Colleges and Universities throughout the country in preserving their legacies and cultural heritage.
With this latest grant, Mellon’s generous support now totals more than $5.6 million and will allow the HBCU Radio Preservation Project to expand to all 29 HBCU radio stations and their campus archives or libraries.

“This is sacred work,” says Jocelyn Robinson (pictured above), the project’s founding director and the director of radio preservation and archives at WYSO. “And now we can help every HBCU station save precious primary recordings and other historical source materials that document the diversity of the Black experience. And we’re not just preventing the loss of invaluable historical records—we’re encouraging institutions in developing a culture and practice of preservation. That will ensure they never face the looming preservation crisis this project was created to prevent.”
The project’s comprehensive and sustainable approach to preserving past, present and future HBCU radio materials has three parts:
Preservation Training & Education—includes workshops for campus stations, archivists and community members, mini-grants for professional development and hiring a fellow and intern each year of the grant cycle
Preservation—consists of eld archivists collaborating with stations and campus archivists on collections assessments and follow-up eld services such as inventories, reformatting, rehousing and other preservation activities
Public History & Preservation Praxis—consists of oral historians interviewing a range of community members with ties to respective stations, including former radio sta, students, alumni and listeners as well as oral history training, digital content creation, frequent public presentations and annual symposia
As a result of the HBCU Radio Preservation Project work with HBCU radio stations and their campus communities, a collection of reformatted historical HBCU radio material will available at the American Archive of Public Broadcasting along with an oral history collection that will be housed at Jackson State University’s Margaret Walker Center.
The HBCU Radio Preservation Project will ocially kick o this next phase of work on February 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Members of the HBCU and preservation communities and their supporters are invited to attend this free Zoom event by registering at: HBCU Radio Preservation Project Kick-o.
Arcade Awarded $13.9 Million Tax Credit
The team behind the Dayton Arcade is thrilled to announce that the team has been awarded a $13.9 million tax credit from Ohio’s Transformational Mixed-Use Development (TMUD) Program for the Dayton Arcade District project, helping to further catalyze the on-going revitalization of downtown Dayton within the Arcade District.

The Arcade District Development represents over $200 Million of investment in what was originally 10 historic buildings, spanning two city blocks and over 810,000 SF in the City of Dayton’s central business district. The first phase of the development, South Arcade Phase 1, commenced construction in April 2019 with the first tenancy in early 2021. In seeing the overall vision of the Arcade District, and touring the completed first phase, Bruce Katz, the widely acclaimed urban expert, declared the Arcade as “the most transformative project in America”.
This TMUD award is critical to completing the next $139.8 Million portion of the Arcade District Development, which encompasses the following phases:
• South Arcade Phase 2: This $12.2 Million phase will complete the overall 265,000 GSF South Arcade development including the expansion of the Arcade Innovation Hub, 6888 Kitchen Incubator, Artist Resource Center, and space for multiple restaurants.
• North Arcade: This $23.3 Million 108,000 GSF phase to complete the 94-bed Hilton Garden Inn, pop- up retail, and neighboring Stop-N-Save Grocery.
• Centre City Building: This $91.9 million 283,000 GSF phase including 200 mixed-income apartments, and up to 53,000 square feet of commercial retail and office. In addition to preserving and enhancing a key, architecturally significant landmark in Dayton’s urban core, this project will provide additional quality commercial space and rental housing in the Downtown neighborhood, bringing residents back to this community.
• Air City Garage: This $12.4 million 156,000 GSF phase to provide 380 parking spaces and additional street-level commercial spaces within the district.
“This award is a unique funding opportunity that is geared towards large transformational projects in Ohio. Since its inception, it has only ever been awarded to projects in Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland,” said Taylor Vogt, developer with Arcade District partner Model Group. “TMUD was a critical component of the
