The legacy of Evans’ Bakery lives on! This morning Baker Benji’s celebrated the storefront’s grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first 25 people in the door received one free donut or one free cupcake a month for a year.
“This is a dream come true for me,” said Benjamin “Benji’s” Stuckey, owner of Benji’s Bakery. “Ten years of hard work all built up to this, and being able to continue this legacy is just the icing on the cake.”
For over 100 years, a bakery has occupied the corner of Troy Street and Warner Avenue and Baker Benji’s is elated to continue this Dayton tradition. Stuckey and his team hope to partner with other restaurants and coffee shops in the area to support fellow small businesses.
“The community has come out in full support,” said Stuckey. “[I’m] not sure who is more excited to have the doors at 700 Troy St open, my team and I, or the neighborhood.”
Benji would like to thank the First Floor Fund, a program funded by the City of Dayton’s Dayton Recovery Plan and administered by CityWide Development Corporation, for the opportunity to make the baker’s dream a reality.
Baker Benji’s is a full-service bakery operating in Old North Dayton. Providing the area with fresh donuts, pastries, cakes, cookies, and more. “Because every neighborhood deserves a good bakery!” Baker Benji’s is the official baker of The Ohio Renaissance Festival and can be found at Ashville Viking Festival (late April), Celtic Fest Ohio (mid-June), the Ohio Renaissance Festival (September thru October), and Yuletide Village (late November thru mid-December).
