The Hot Head Mexican Grill &  Cantina in Centerville opens on Monday with the first 250 burrito’s free starting at 4pm.  And if you can’t make that, they’ll give away another 250 on Tuesday morning starting at 10:30am.

According to owner Ray Wiley the first location opened in 2007 and  this will be the 76th Hot Head to open.  While the majority of their eateries are in Ohio, through franchising,  they’ve managed to locate in nine states with their newest restaurants opening soon in Massachusetts, Texas and Alabama. They’ve opened their first head inside a Kroger grocery store with 4 more to come and a few more free standing locations are currently under construction.

As you move down the line you can create your own burrito, bowl or taco, making it mild with teriyaki chicken, pork verde or classic chicken or go wild with jalapeno ranch spicy steak, spicy chicken or mango habanero barbacoa. Continue to add rice,  beans, banana peppers, onions, peppers, lettuce salsa, guacamole, queso or cheese.

But there’s still more as you choose from one of their 14 sauces including honey chipotle BBQ, Cholula Hot Sauce, Mango Habanero, Smoky Tabasco or Southwest Ranch, just to name a few. Also new on the menu are appetizers- burrito bites, jalapeno poppers and nachos.

Once you’ve created your entree,  you’ll have the option to open a bar tab (with proper ID) and get an electronic  bracelet that will allow activate a tap allowing you to pour your own beer, margarita or Long Island Ice Tea.  Using the Ipourit.com system, customers have complete control of the adult beverage service and you pour your own selection and are charged by the ounce for  what you pour.

Your black bracelet activates the tap and you can pour as little or as much as you’d like (up to 32oz per visit).  Grab a flight tray and create your own beer or margarita flight.  Go back for a second round and your bracelet will just add your selections to your tab.

There are over 20 taps to choose from and the beer selection includes the standard domestic beers, craft beer selections from Warped Wing, Yellow Springs Brewery, Jackie O’s and more. Want to know more about the specialty beers?  Tap the sign and you’ll get a description like the one to the left here.  Each time you use your wristband to activate a tap, you’ll see exactly how many ounces you are pouring as well as the total that you’ve poured.

Prefer hard liquor?  That’s on tap as well.  Choose from Patron or Sauza Tequila, Tito’s Vodka, Bacardi Rum or Crown Royal.  You can pour up to 6 ounces of the hard stuff and then use the Pepsi Spire machine if you need a mixer.

On opening night from 4 to 9 pm all beverages from the self-pouring tap handles will be 50% off.

Her proudest accomplishment as a past president of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association was creating Restaurant Week, a twice a year tradition that continues to grow and benefit local charities as well. As a foodie, it's only natural that she continues to promote local restaurateurs with DaytonDining.
