“Did you say Garlic ice cream?” “A Garlic Beer keg?”
Yes, it’s true.

This Saturday July 23rd, Dayton’s GARLIC FEST promises to an epic event and is being touted as a “stinkin’ good time.”  You can even take a selfie with the garlic fest mascot, and knock that off your bucket list.

We have exclusive scoop on which food vendors are coming and what the will be serving:
GARLIC FEST will feature 19 food vendors making it one of the bigger food festivals locally and promising some great garlic inspired eats.

VOLTZY’S HAMBURGERS:  The Moraine legend is being carried on and will be serving those famous cheeseburgers just how you remember them, with a touch of garlic

JD’S TWISTED PIG BBQ: Roasted corn on the cob with garlic butter, Garlic BBQ pulled pork sandwiches,  Roasted baked potatoes with all the toppings, Pulled pork nachos, Garlic mac and cheese Iced coffee, Orange aid

T’S HEAVENY TASTE: Shrimp po boy sandwich, Lobster sandwiches, Catfish po boy, Garlic parm fries, Crab & shrimp fries, Garlic cheesesteaks

FREE WHEELIN PIZZA: Garlic herb pizza, Pesto pizza, other Neapolitan oven pizzas

CHICAGO GYROS AND DOGS: Gyros with garlic tzaziki sauce, Falafel, Chicago style hot dogs

YUMMY SIDE HUSTLE: Vegan friendly Garlic Bread, Garlic Almonds, Cookies

SCRATCH CATERING / PANGEAKETO DAYTON:  They will be featuring the all time #1 favorite food at Garlic Fest,  the Garlic honey sriracha boneless chicken strips

As you can see it is an incredible spread of food and run down from A-Z there are other foods here that we haven’t mentioned.

2pm SPECIAL “GARLIC BEER KEG” TAPPING:
For the first time ever there will be GARLIC BEER at Dayton’s Garlic Fest, and it was brewed locally.   There will a 2:00 PM ceremonial tapping presented by  Branch and Bone Artisan Ales .    You may be familiar with this local brewery which is located at 905 Wayne Ave  They have brewed a special, one keg only batch of Garlic Beer specifically and especially for this festival  !!  But beware beer enthusiasts,  the limited supply means that keg promises to go quickly  But there will be plenty more beer all day and evening because GARLIC FEST has secured beer trucks again this year.

BEER TRUCKS:
We again have secured a beer truck and will have a couple satellite sites selling beer.   Ice cold beers for sale will include Miller Lite,  Peroni Italian beer and Vizzy Hard Seltzer.  We will also have Pepsi products like bottled pop and bottled water for sale .  We got you covered for cold drinks on a summer’s day.

 

EATING CONTESTS:

— 3pm,  Mamma DiSalvos Meatball Eating Contest in the Gym:
It is going to be meatball mayhem when hungry contestants get Mamma Disalvo’s delicious meatballs in their mouths.  This contest promises to get saucy.   Who Will Win bragging rights and a $100 Mamma DiSalvo’s gift card?  Air condition seating available.   Sign up at GarlicFestDayton.com

— 7:30pm,  $100 Garlic Eating Contest in the gym :
In this one contestants must individually peel and eat cloves of garlic.  Whoever eats the most cloves in a set time wins cold hard cash. This contest will take your breath away   Fresh garlic provided by local company MAD RIVER GARLIC GROWERS.  Sign up atGarlicFestDayton.com

GAMBLING INDOORS:
Ok all you card sharks. The cafeteria area inside the school, will be open for gambling .  Casino and Monte Carlo games like showdown,  chuckaluck and others   We will also have pull tabs this year Bet cash and win cash in comfortable air conditioned seating.  You could walk away a big winner.

FREE COOKING DEMOS AND FREE TASTES:
Boy are you in luck.  We have some real Garlic gurus in the kitchen this year.  Each chef has their own personality and this promises to be the best lineup yet.  The cooking demos will be prepared in the gym.  Limited tastes will be available free, for those in attendance.  Here’s who’s featured on the schedule:

— 4pm Chef Summer Key
This local chef is back again for another feature at Garlic Fest.  She owns her own catering company called Key Ingredient. This talented chef will be preparing Black Garlic and Wild Mushroom Risotto topped with Bay Scallop Piccata.   We can’t wait ! 

— 4:30 pm Stephanie Ehring
Stephanie has a lot of experience with catering festivals,  dinner parties and working as a personal chef.  We are excited to see what she brings to the Garlic table.  Her dish will be announced the day of Garlic Fest.  Again,  we will have free sample tastes  available in limited quantities at all of the demos.  

— 7pm Melanie Cedargren
Melanie owns The Spicy Olive, an olive oil store in Oakwood. She also owns store branches in Cincinnati.   Her shops sell fresh flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars.  For Garlic Fest, Melanie will be cooking with garlic olive oil and pesto olive oil   She will be sauteing Italian sausages with onions and peppers and putting it over pasta  That sounds delicious! Make sure you don’t miss it! Melanie will also have her olive oils for sale at the dem, especially the Garlic olive oil.  This is a great chance to get to know one of the best shops in Dayton.

 

LIVE MUSIC:
We are proud to feature two bands at  Garlic Fest that will keep things rocking, rolling with a feel good atmosphere   Both bands will be playing in the gym and air conditioned seating is available.  You can come in and eat, have a beer and listen to some classic tunes.

1:30pm -3pm THE LACEY JANE BAND:
This one is special.  All the way in from Florida,  The Lacey Jane Band promises to give us some classic rock and roll music.  You may remember Beth Hill and Dan Hill from the popular group The Rejects. These retired, local teachers are back in Ohio,  and ready to play some favorites at Garlic Fest.

5pm – 7pm JUNIOR AND GUITAR MIKE:
Now it’s time for some laid back acoustic rock and roll and county music.  Get ready for Junior and Guitar Mike who are ready to bring you their classic sound . You may remember Junior from the group the “The Drunken Commitments,” an old local favorite band.  Guitar  Mike on the local music scene for decades. Enjoy the show.

1pm-10pm CRAFT VENDORS:.
There will be close to 40 craft vendors this year at Garlic Fest. Garlic Fest will be announcing the induction of the 2022 class of honorees for the Dayton Garlic Hall of Fame   See which local residents have earned their spot among the elite.
