CareSource Names Next CEO

Today CareSource is naming Erhardt Preitauer as its next CEO. Preitauer will succeed founding CEO Pamela Morris, who will retire in May 2018.

Preitauer is currently with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. He is the CEO of Horizon NJ Health which is the state’s largest Medicaid plan with more than $6B in revenue and 1 million members. Preitauer has an impressive resume that includes leadership positions with multiple national insurers. He received his BS in Finance and Economics from the University of Nevada-Reno and his MBA in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from Penn State University.

Preitauer will join CareSource on May 1. Pam Morris will work directly with Preitauer for several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Morris has served as the President and CEO of CareSource since its inception nearly 29 years ago. In October 2017 she announced her planned retirement. A social entrepreneur, Morris pioneered Ohio’s first mandatory Medicaid managed care program and built Dayton Area Health Plan. Under her leadership, CareSource has grown to become one of the nation’s largest Medicaid Managed Care plans, serving more than 2 million members in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia and West Virginia.

After 32 Years Leading CareSource, Pam Morris To Retire

Today CareSource President and Chief Executive Officer Pamela Morris announced she will retire from her role effective May 2018.

Pamela Morris has served as the President and CEO of CareSource since its inception 28 years ago. A social entrepreneur, Morris pioneered Ohio’s first mandatory Medicaid managed care program and built Dayton Area Health Plan. Under her leadership, CareSource has grown to become one of the nation’s largest Medicaid Managed Care plans, serving more than 1.8 million members in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia and West Virginia.

As President and CEO of CareSource, Morris has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to improving the health and well-being of the members CareSource serves. She was named the 2007 National Entrepreneur of the Year, Healthcare Services by Ernst & Young. She has also won several local awards, including the 2014 Maureen Patterson Regional Leader Award from the Dayton Development Coalition. She was recently elected to the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Board of Directors.

“CareSource has been much more than a job for me, it has been my life’s passion. Even in those early days through today, I have never lost sight of what I set out to do when I came to Dayton and we started the Dayton Area Health Plan,” Morris said. “I’m proud that CareSource has been able to make a lasting difference in our members’ lives. Through all the changes to health care industry, we’ve never lost sight of our mission.”

The CareSource Management Group Board of Directors will conduct a national search for her successor. Morris will be active in the search process and will ensure the next CEO has the same passion for serving CareSource members that she has had during her tenure. Morris will continue to lead CareSource until her retirement in May 2018. She will also have a role to assist with the transition.

“The sky is the limit for CareSource. The growth we have seen in the past several years has taken CareSource to a new level,” Morris added. “I’m proud of what we have accomplished—the jobs we have created, the members we have served and the lives we have changed. It is now time for the next chapter for CareSource.”

Ready, Set Give! Crowdsource Funding For The Arts….

Power2give.org is an online cultural marketplace connecting donors with projects they are passionate about. Based on a crowd-funding model, Power2give is a flexible platform which can adapt to evolving trends in fundraising and make giving to the arts more accessible. The site allows arts organizations to post and promote projects in need of funding and invites donors to contribute directly to the projects that are most intriguing to them.

Culture Works goal in launching the site, made possible by a founding gift from the CareSource Foundation, is to broaden the base of support for the arts by engaging and mobilizing new donors and funds. Key to Power2give’s success are matching funds, which provide an incentive for organizations and motivate people to donate through the site so that their gift will have the maximum impact. For the initial launch the DP & L Foundation will match the first $50,000 in gifts. The provision of matching funds enables CultureWorks to help arts groups reach thousands of new donors, generate a new stream of revenue for the local non-profits, increase the organizational capacity of these organizations, reach out to underserved communities and new organizations and help arts groups better tell their own stories.

How it works

With Power2give.org, anyone can make a difference! Find creative projects focused on a personal cause, make a gift, watch your gift get matched by a sponsor, and share the project with friends and family. Organizations post projects with funding needs up to $10,000 and invite donors to contribute to those projects most intriguing to them. Projects are listed on the site for a maximum of 90 days, or until they meet their financial goals. All power2give donations are tax deductible. There are currently 35 projects on the site and some need as little as $500 to achieve their goal. Whether it’s helping Musica purchase a piano, teaching the teacher filmmaking, or helping folks runaway to the circus, the projects are as varied as the residents of the Miami Valley. Culture Works To Roll Out Crowdfunding Model

When over 120 nonprofit professionals show up for an 8:30am meeting on a frigid morning, you know there’s something major about to happen. This morning Culture Works introduced an online giving model, Power2give, an online cultural marketplace designed to connect donors with projects they are passionate about.

Originated in Charlotte, North Carolina after their arts community took a major downturn in 2008, the model has now been successfully implemented in over 20 markets, including Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Locally CareSource was the first supporter of the program, and host of this mornings meeting. DP &L has also stepped up to become major supporter for the launch of the program, with a $50,000 match to funds donated through the online site . Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District announced they will also be providing $10,000 in matching funds. Over the next month or so, local nonprofits will begin learning about Power2give and the site will go live on March 6th.

Perry Mixter, from the Charlotte Arts & Science Council, in town for the training today shared some pretty impressive statistics with the group this morning. In Louisville’s first year using the crowdfunding model, 81% of the donors were first time arts donors and the average gift was $50. Power2give sites have raised over $4.5 million dollars since the programs debut in August of 2011. Projects of $10,000 and under will be presented for up to 90 days and Culture Works will collect funds and grant them to the arts group within 15 days of a project closing.
