No Name Cowboy Artisan Jerky announced its upcoming closure on Jan. 17. For the past 15 years, the store has served customers with jerky.
Steve “Big Hoss” Mills and the No Name Cowboys explained the decision to close was due to cost. Below is his facebook post explaining his reasons for closing:
“To our community, friends, and fellow jerky lovers,
This isn’t an easy post to write.
After a lot of thought — and grinding our gears — we want to share that the No Name Cowboy Jerky Store will be closing. We will remain open through Saturday, January 17th, Tuesday–Saturday at our usual hours.
Last week we were unexpectedly closed while I was sick, and I didn’t get the chance to explain what was going on — for that, I truly apologize.

Over the past year, the cost of meat, ingredients, and packaging supplies climbed to levels we did not expect — levels the world really hasn’t seen before. And here’s the bittersweet part: we had our best year ever, moving more jerky than any year prior (over 2,000 lbs out the door). The support from this community has been incredible — but even with record sales, the numbers just stopped making sense.
This place has been more than a store. I still meet new people who knew Dave and somehow found their way back here. I honestly don’t know which meant more to them — the conversations or the jerky — but I do know this place is special. I’ve added some bits and pieces over the years, but the core of No Name Cowboy has always been Dave and the way he created something truly special out of what many see as just a snack. It’s not just dried meat in a bag to us — and it certainly wasn’t to him. Especially around Christmas — seeing this place full has meant everything to us, and it meant the world to Dave.
To say thank you, we’ll be offering 25% off everything in the store, while supplies last.
Whether you’ve stopped in once or have been coming here for years, thank you for being part of this journey. I’m doing everything I can to keep the jerky going through a private labeler. I can continue shipping what we have online, but without a physical location to make the Jerky, things get complicated fast. I promise to share updates the moment I have them.
Thank you all so much for your support.
Stay Stoked,
Steve “Big Hoss” Mills
and the No Name Cowboys”
