It is with sincere regret that I inform you that The Modern College of Design will stop delivering instruction on June 2, when students complete their externships, and permanently close on June 23, 2026.
The Modern is closing because we can no longer support operations due to enrollment challenges. Over time, we have worked hard to try to address these challenges by, for example, improving our operations and introducing new programs. Despite these efforts to evolve and grow, we have not achieved the stability needed to continue. As a result, closing has become the most responsible path forward. This has been a difficult, but necessary, decision.
For more than 40 years, The Modern has prepared students for creative careers, and that work has been shaped in part by the broader creative community. Through externships, hiring graduates, and giving students real opportunities to apply what they’ve learned, you’ve helped shape their experience in a way that goes far beyond the classroom. That impact is real, and it stays with them as they move forward in their careers.
Reveal
While our in-person Reveal event will not take place as originally planned, we are developing a digital experience to showcase the work of our graduating class. You will have the opportunity to view student portfolios and connect directly with graduates as they take their next steps. We will be in touch with more details soon.
Thank you for your connection to The Modern and for the role you’ve played in supporting creative talent.
