It was one of the worst kept secrets in the beer business, when news of Eudora Brewing Company‘s expansion started leaking out last year.  Owner Neil Chabot opened the original brewery in November of 2013 in a strip center on Wilmington Pike in Kettering. Their 3 barrel brewing system just couldn’t keep up with the demand and the tap room was often at capacity.  They officially announced the new location last summer and the move wouldn’t be far, just a couple miles north on Wilmington Pike.  The new location, just south of Dorothy Lane is an old Pep Boys auto shop and is 20,000 square feet,  about six times the size of the original space, which shut down in October so they could start the move.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the new facility, which will open to the public this Friday at 4pm. My first impression- WOW!  The spot is huge, wide open and really inviting!  They’ve kept enough of the original breweries decor and feel to make it feel familiar, but now it’s ready for big crowds!

Coming with them from the old spot were the Brew Your Own kettles, Eudora is the only place in the Miami Valley where customers can book time to brew their own beer.   Whether you’ve brewed before or you have no idea what you’re doing, their staff will guide you through every step of the process and make it as easy and as fun as possible. It’s a great team building experience, can serve as a fun idea for a bachelor party and the best part can be creating your own beer label. Al

Reservations for this brewing experience is on hold, as they have some equipment repairs to make, but they’ll begin taking reservations soon.

GAMING AREA

The pinball machine and video gaming systems also made the move and the have their own expanded dedicated area in the new venue.  Adding to the fun is the vintage bowling game and an expanded selection of board games and tables to spread out and play.

New additions to the tap room include two pool tables, which will offer free play, a large lounge area in front of the fireplace with leather couches, a huge patio with seating for over 100 and areas for cornhole as well as a fire pit.

charity: water

Also continuing, Eudora Brewing Co. will donate a portion of EVERY sale toward funding a water project for those in need of clean water.  They donate to a charity called “charity: water” whose mission is to end the water crisis happening all over the world. They’re a non-profit organization that donates 100% (yes, 100%) of the money contributed to help people in need of clean water. With each purchase you make at Eudora, you’re helping charity: water build wells and water purification systems in villages, schools and clinics in areas where water is difficult to obtain.

The custom built bar made locally by Jett’s Creek Woodworking is huge and gives plenty of spots to belly up to the 18 taps  and a nitro cold brew coffee system as well.

The new brewing system has increased to a 10 barrel brewing  system, and with the addition of brewmaster Jeff Fortney to the crew, Eudora has been brewing to get ready for the onslaught of beer lovers that have been awaiting a pint of Mother-Fuggle, Bangarang, The Bees-Kees or Thunberball.

Private Party Room

Speaking of Thunderball, that’s the name of the private room, available for booking for private functions.  Seating about 30, it’s decked out with table seating, a tv, whiteboards with a great view of the brewing area. Rates will run about $25-$50/hour, based of

Eudora Kitchen

But the biggest addition to Eudora is the new kitchen!  Owner Chabot knows a lot about brewing beer, but admits he knows nothing about running a kitchen, so he contracted with consultant Jonathan Kouse of Chef Therapy Group to help design the kitchen, hire Dylan and James for the kitchen crew and create the menu offerings.

Here’s the opening menu, but remember this is  new and menu items and prices will probably change as they work through the opening weeks of the  new eatery.
