“From Dayton, With Love” is an evening of entertainment and fundraising to support those on the ground defending their homeland of Ukraine. On 4.24, Sueño will transform into a performance space, featuring:
*Live Slavic and Appalachian musical performances from Brother Hill, Benya Stewart, and Siarzhuk Douhushau (of Slavalachia) and a Hill Spirits Hoedown
*Belly dancing by Lily Datura of Gem City Burlesque
*Fire dancing from Aurora Fire
*Eastern European wines and inspired cocktails from Soroca Imports
*Silent auctions featuring donations from local businesses
Tickets are $10. (Please note that Sueño will NOT be offering food this evening). All proceeds from ticket sales, bar sales, and silent auctions will be used to support UA First Aid, a grassroots initiative started by Ukrainian students of Ohio University who returned to Ukraine at the start of the war to help their people in their time of greatest need. One of the most desperate needs is for IFAK’s (Individual First Aid Kits) which have become nearly impossible to access in Ukraine. These life-saving kits are essential for the treatment of wounded civilians, as well as volunteer and military personnel alike. These kits on average cost $115 per unit.
Though it is our sincere hope that this conflict will be resolved as soon as possible, we must prepare for the possibility that these items will still be needed in the weeks to come. If hostilities have generally ceased by the time this money is raised, funds will go directly to wherever they are most needed, whether to caring for orphaned children, to humanitarian supplies, or to rebuilding efforts. We make it our duty and mission to serve the citizens of Ukraine however we may best serve them.
