LYRIC FIRE: DUNBAR IN MOTION puts into physical motion the poetry of Dayton’s own Paul Laurence Dunbar, the first African-American poet to achieve international fame. This is performed by Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) in period costume and they paint a moving and vibrant picture of the poet’s life during the late 1800s. Victoria Theatre, Tuesday, 9:30am and 11:30am.
Sing Dayton! For singers, the act of making music is an aerobic activity. It’s also an ice breaker. People who sing together feel connected to each other. They feel a sense of belonging. They feel connected to life, their fellow singers, and the city we live in. Yellow Cab Tavern, Tuesday, 6 to 9pm.
Wednesday morning Yoga Class. 10:15 to 11:15am in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakwood. $5 per person. Drop in or attend regularly.
Dayton Auto Show, Each year this rolls into town with displays of the latest and greatest models and automotive technologies. Thursday and Friday, noon to 9pm, Saturday, 10 to 9; Sunday, 10 to 6.
concert:nova, Cincinnati’s Chamber Music Lab, wants to “transform hearts, minds and communities through thought-provoking musical exploration.” Children and all are invited to experience this musical innovation with a free performance at the Dayton Metro Library’s Eichelberger Forum, 215 E. Third Street, on Thursday, 6pm.
Black Noise. Works by Holly Branstner and curated by Roger J. Crum is located in Radial Gallery on the campus of the University of Dayton. The reception with the artist include a performance by Wohlfeil/Pierce sponsored by the Department of Art and Design, the Department of Music, the Graul Chair in Arts and Languages and the ArtsLIVE initiative. Thursday, 5 to7pm.

The Bison and The Boar. The grand opening features historic Preble County photographs, locally repurposed barn wood and rustic table settings, The Bison and The Boar is both warm and inviting while also cultivated and refined. The grand opening is Friday!
For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design. The DAI is the debut venue for this new touring exhibition. The exhibition’s 100 extraordinary paintings present not only a visual document of the membership, but also a unique history of American painting from 1809 to the present. Opens Saturday.
Explore the Challenges … and Find Solutions to the Concerns Facing Immigrants and Refugees in our Midst. Keynote address by the Hon. Judge Walter Rice; Voices of Immigrant/Refugee Experiences Panel; Organizations Panel & Information Tables; Breakout Sessions: Brainstorming on Areas of Need & How to Get Involved! UD Dan Curran Place (1700 S. Patterson Blvd); Saturday, 1:30 to 5:30pm.
Traditional African dance is front and center at the Dayton Metro Library when Anna Omulo and a dance troupe from Wright State University take the floor. All ages are invited to watch a dance performance, then learn a short routine and join in! The free interactive performance takes place in the Main Library Bassani Theater Off Third, 215 E. Third Street, downtown on Saturday, 2:30 to 3:30pm.
Coco’s Bistro for more than a dozen years, has put on “Savor your Sunday” brunches benefiting Stivers School for the Arts. It’s one of the only times during the entire year that the popular restaurant is open for brunch. 10am to 1:30pm. Stivers Chamber Choir, this Sunday.
TWO TO TANGO! Andrea Arese-Elias, pianist, and Jimmy Leach, trumpet, are presenting an exciting concert of solo works and music for piano and trumpet from Brazil, Argentina and France. This is at St. Paul’s Church in Oakwood. There is no admission charge but a freewill offering will be collected. Sunday, 3 to 4:30pm..
