With the Christmas season quickly approaching, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley (CSSMV) is seeking support from the community for the agency’s annual Holiday Help-A-Family Program, which will serve approximately 2,000 area residents this year.
CSSMV case managers, along with case managers from several partner agencies in the community, identify families and senior citizens in need and refer them to the Holiday Help-A-Family program. Area individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations are asked to sponsor a family and/or senior in need by purchasing new gifts that the family has requested.
As families and sponsors are matched, the sponsors receive information about their matched family (or families) and can then purchase the requested items. Approximately 100 families are still in need of sponsors as of the beginning of November, so now is the time to sign up.
CSSMV Donor Relations Manager Laurie Cornett Cross says, “The need is so great this year that we have extended the sponsor deadline to make sure there will be Christmas gifts for every one of these families. Sponsoring a family is a great way to spread holiday cheer and make sure those in need have the blessed Christmas that so many of us take for granted.”
If you don’t have time to do the gift-shopping yourself, you can make a cash donation to support Holiday Help-A-Family. Simply go online to www.cssmv.org/donate and choose Holiday Help-A-Family as the designated program. You can also mail a check to Catholic Social Services (put “Holiday Help-A-Family” in the memo field) at 922 W. Riverview Avenue, Dayton OH 45402.
