This was a Food Adventure to remember, and our crew was on hand to judge the epic clash of huge subs and humanity in the name of charity.
2019 CHEESESTEAK CHAMPION CROWNED
A nationally known competitive eater swooped into Dayton to win the 2019 Super Duper Cheesesteak Championship on Saturday. The Submarine House’s annual eating contest was won by St Louis native Brandon “Da Garbage Disposal” Clark. He took he title for the 2nd year in a row. He ate the 16 inch, Super Duper Cheesesteak, with triple the cheese and triple the meat in 1 minute and 34 seconds. The sandwich was topped with “The Works.” A close second was Steve Howard, a local Daytonian and past champ.
The contest featured the fastest cheesesteak eaters as timed at each location at the store championships. Former champions such at Kris Mick and Clayton Naylor rounded out the toughest group of competitors to date.
Brandon Clark stunned the crowd in 2018 when he blew away the record time and ate the sandwich in 1 minute and 14 seconds. The previous record at that time was just under 2 minutes. The Garbage Disposal did not disappoint in 2019,
winning the contest with 2nd best time ever recorded. “Da Garbage Disposal” is gaining national fame for his traveling and eating challenges, and his YouTube Channel is approaching 22 thousand subscribers. He even has a video with him and YouTube Eating Challenge star “Atlas” taking on a 15 egg omelette.
SUBMARINE HOUSE DONATES $35,000 to PINK RIBBON GIRLS
The championship was held Saturday June 1st at the Centerville Submarine House Grille and Bar location. All proceeds went to the Pink Ribbon Girls. Even more impressive that the eating contest, was that Submarine House locations donated $35,000 to the Pink Ribbon Girls. This means that over the past 3 years, Pink Ribbon Girls charity has received over $100,000 from this event!! This was the 9th annual event, with the first 6 years benefiting Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.
