Hurricane Helene has left untold devastation in her path and Black Mountain, NC is just one example of a town left without water, power, food, or the knowledge that they have a home to go back to at all. Black Mountain is dear to our hearts however as it is home to one of our own from West Carrollton – former police officer Dan Wessling and his wife Stephanie.

Dan and Stephanie operate a restaurant in Black Mountain, NC which now serves as a beacon of hope for the community as they have offered up shelter, supplies, and safety. Those supplies and resources are now exhausted and they still need our help! Supply needs are changing daily but as the cold sets in and the clean up phase approaches warm clothing, underwear, socks, shoes, boots, sleeping bags, tents, blankets, camping gear, tools, gas-powered tools, cleaning supplies, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, feminine care products, towels, wash rags, cotton balls, soap, and anything of the like are certainly helpful!

All are invited to this family-friendly event! Please consider donating supplies, money, or time!

BLINK | Cincinnati’s Festival of Light & Art

The Nation’s largest immersive art event, BLINK, lights up the Cincy Region for 4 days every other year. This engaging celebration of art and light is family friendly, free, and welcomes everyone to bask in its glow.

BLINK’s Director Justin Brookhart also hinted at a “first-of-its-kind” installation that will be making its debut this year. Brookhart described it as a “bridge of light” connecting the two sides of the river with an 100-foot-long array of laser lights stretching from Covington Landing to Sawyer Point on Cincinnati’s riverfront.

BLINK kicks off with an opening night parade at 7:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 17. This year’s theme is “Let it Shine.” The parade begins at 8 p.m. at West Mehring Way by Paycor Stadium and continues along the Riverfront to Barry Larkin Way at Great American Ballpark.

BLINK® spans 30+ city blocks from Findlay Market in Cincinnati to Covington and Newport in Northern Kentucky. Each map outlines the neighborhood zones, providing an overview of the streets, alleys, buildings and landmarks set to be transformed from October 17th-20th. The BLINK experience is designed as a walking event and an opportunity for visitors to explore the city in a new light.

Meet the Artists That Fuel Blink

With more than 80 murals, projections, light installations, stages and unique attractions spanning more than 30 city blocks, there’s plenty to see.

THE FINDLAY MARKET ZONE

The four-day festival will feature more than 80 installations divided into six “zones” including the Findlay Market Zone, Over-the-Rhine Zone, Downtown Zone, Banks Zone, Covington Zone and for the first time, the Newport Zone.

The Findlay Market Zone will feature 15 new permanent murals and a fan-favorite installation “String Theory” which combines hundreds of glowing strings tied together to create a colorful web.

THE OTR ZONE

A couple streets away is the Over-the-Rhine Zone which will once again light up the iconic Music Gall with projection-mapping displays presented by AVextended, Chaske Haverkos, Susan Kosti, and Lightborne.

THE DOWNTOWN ZONE

The downtown zone will cover Cincinnati’s business district, illuminating murals like the Cincinnatus and Toy Heritage mural.

Also returning is the Asianati Night Market.

THE BANKS ZONE

Down at The Banks zone, there will be a stage featuring musicians each day along with the return of BLINK Cincinnati’s nightly drone show at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and a first-of-its-kind installation creating a multi-color bridge of light spanning the Ohio River.

THE COVINGTON AND NEWPORT ZONES

Across the river will be the Covington and Newport Zones where installations will light up Hotel Covington along with new sites including the Southgate/Thompson House and Newport on the Levee.

Metro & TANK & Butler Co. Regional Transit Authority (BRCTA) Offering Free Rides to BLINK

Metro, TANK, Butler Co. Regional Transit Authority (BRCTA) and BLINK® are making it easier to experience with fare-free rides and direct access from Park and Ride locations to this year’s immersive art experience.

Metro and TANK will offer fare-free rides beginning at 6 p.m., October 17-20. All rides on both transportation networks, including direct routes to BLINK, will be free. Direct routes to BLINK will be available via three Park and Ride locations. These Park and Ride locations will drop attendees off at the Riverfront Transit Center for both Metro and TANK.

BCRTA’s CincyLink will shuttle attendees from Park and rides to the Riverfront Transit Station, from 5:30-11pm each night of BLINK.

There are 4 programs available, they include: Brain & Body Integration, Nicholas School, Brain Wellness Center & Aquatic Wellness Center. Services are provided to Stroke Victims, Autism, Down Syndrome, Learning Difficulties, Cerebral Palsy, Depression/Anxiety and more. Wellness programs are also available through the Brain Wellness Center and the Aquatic Wellness Center.

Noodles & Company Unveils 3 New Pasta Dishes

Following successful trials in three test markets, Noodles & Company rolls out three highly anticipated new bowls nationwide. Inspired by positive guest feedback, these new dishes represent the next evolution of the Noodles menu. To bring this vision to life, Noodles & Company collaborated with The Culinary Edge to introduce bold and innovative flavors that elevate the dining experience.

From smoky bacon and zesty roasted tomatoes to savory artichokes and grilled corn, the new ingredients underscore Noodles’ commitment to pushing boundaries while staying true to what guests love: noodles done right.

Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi : Noodles’ zesty twist on the classic, with grilled shrimp, roasted tomatoes, and fresh artichokes.
Chipotle Chicken Cavatappi : Bringing a little heat with roasted red peppers and smoky chipotle sauce, balanced by grilled chicken and spiral cavatappi noodles.
Crispy Chicken Bacon Alfredo : Noodles’ famous 4-cheese alfredo sauce with crispy bacon, and fresh broccoli, delivering a rich, indulgent take on a fan favorite.

“Our new Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi , Chipotle Chicken Cavatappi , and Crispy Chicken Bacon Alfredo are just the beginning for Noodles & Company,” said Scott Davis , chief concept officer at Noodles & Company. “This launch is a significant milestone in our journey to deliver more sophisticated, dynamic flavors to our guests, and we’re confident that our fans—new and old alike—will find something to love. We’re just getting started, and these three new dishes are only the beginning of what’s to come.”

The three menu items performed well during an early testing phase at a central location. The Crispy Chicken Bacon Alfredo is selling 50% higher and has stronger guest satisfaction scores than the Alfredo MontAmore, which it will replace. The Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi, which falls under the light and fresh menu category, is “selling well and has guest satisfaction scores well above our menu average,” Madsen said. The Chipotle Chicken Cavatappi, which ends Noodles’ lack of Latin-inspired dishes, is also seeing similar results.

The chain removed its Zucchini Roasted Garlic Cream, Leanguini Rosa and Leanguini Fresca as part of its initial refresh at the test location, Madsen said. Last week, the chain added five new or improved dishes and removed a dish from the same central testing locations. The company plans to introduce the next round of dishes after the holiday season ends, during Q1 2025, Madsen said.

This Halloween, Burger King^®– home of the flame-grilled Whopper^® – is teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios Consumer Products and the animated adaptations of The Addams Family to serve up scary delicious takes on some of the brand’s most iconic menu items. Available starting Thursday, Oct. 10 at participating restaurants while supplies last, the new The Addams Family Menu features four delicious items – each inspired by a different character from the beloved animated films.

Burger King is inviting Guests to pull up a seat at the table with their favorite family (and Thing, of course) as the brand brings unique The Addams Family-inspired offerings to menus nationwide, including:

Wednesday’s Whopper – Enjoy the iconic flame-grilled Whopper topped with Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions all toasted on a purple bun that gets its hue from purple potato topped with black sesame seeds.

SpongeBob ‘Krabby Patty’ Meal Now At Wendy’s

Wendy’s is releasing a special “Krabby Patty Kollab” meal for a limited time — in honor of the 25th anniversary of the “SpongeBob SquarePants” TV show.

The special cheeseburger — named after the fictional burger concocted by SpongeBob in the show — is served with an additional slice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and a “top-secret” Krabby Kollab sauce on a toasted bun.

The Krabby Patty meal is a combo featuring the Krabby Patty Kollab Burger, a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, and fries.

The new Frosty option — inspired by Spongebob’s fruity home — is made with vanilla and a swirl of pineapple-and-mango-flavored puree.

Ghost Pepper Chicken Debuts at Popeyes

A brand-new Ghost Pepper Chicken sandwich is hitting menus today, Oct. 7. The “Ghost Pepper” name carries a lot of weight as it was formerly considered the hottest pepper in the world (the Pepper X now holds the title). However, Popeyes promises that its new sandwich “is indulgent, flavorful, and gives just the right kick to make your taste buds tingle without overwhelming the senses—this sandwich is scary good, but not scary spicy!”

It features a buttermilk-battered chicken breast, barrel-cured pickles, and a chili-infused Ghost Pepper Sauce on a toasted brioche bun. In other words, it is identical to Popeyes’ wildly popular classic Chicken Sandwich (700 calories) except for replacing the mayo with that new Ghost Pepper Sauce.

The Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich isn’t the only exciting new option that is making its debut at Popeyes today. To celebrate the fall season, the chain is also offering a new Apple Cranberry Tea and Apple Cranberry Lemonade, both of which feature tart cranberry and warm spice flavors. The new beverages and chicken sandwich will only be available for a limited time, so interested customers shouldn’t wait too long before stopping by their local Popeyes.

As a final goodie for fans, Popeyes is offering a new “Chick or Treat” promotion that provides customers with a free Chocolate Chip Biscuit with any purchase over $5. Start off your night by trick or treating with your kids through the Historic Business District. The museum will open at 6 with hotdogs, chips, drinks and roasted marshmallows in the backyard. Family-friendly tours through the Historic Springboro Business District start at dusk (you may even meet some friendly ghosts along the way.) We will have hotdogs, chips and candy, music (provided by the Springboro Chamber,) story time from the Franklin-Springboro Public Library, Dayton Ghost Hunters and some good old fashioned fun for the family! While there may be a few mild scares, Mosquito Joe of Miami Valley will make sure we don’t have any little vampires flying around!
