The Grinch Meal Now at McDonald’s

December 2, 2025 By Dayton937

Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch has successfully slipped into the Golden Arches and on Dec. 2, he’s unleashing The Grinch Meal. His diabolical culinary debut features Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt” McShaker Fries, arriving for the first time in the U.S.

Sprinkle the tangy, dill pickle seasoning into the McShaker bag and shake for a bold twist on our World Famous Fries® that will make your taste buds pucker with delight. Pair them with your choice of a Big Mac® or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets® and a medium drink for the ultimate treat for yourself during holiday fuss and muss.

The Grinch is also sneaking a piece of mischief into every meal: a pair of spirited socks, scribbled with messages from the Grinch himself to let everyone know exactly how he feels this holiday season. The socks come in four unhinged colors and can even be used as an impromptu stocking, just like Mt. Crumpit’s finest.

“THiS iS MY MEAL AND i DiDN’T PARTNER WiTH McDONALD’S OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF MY HEART,” said The Grinch in a handwritten note on crumpled paper from Mt. McDonald’s Monopoly Is Back

October 7, 2025 By Dayton937

McDonald’s is doing all kinds of things to win back cash-strapped customers, from debuting a new value menu to bringing McDonald’s Monopoly is back.

The game, which debuted in 1987 and was last played in 2014, is sure to spark some serious nostalgia for those little paper game pieces you pull from your carton of fries. After a decade, however, some aspects of the game have changed. Here’s everything you need to know about the new version of McDonald’s Monopoly.

What’s Different About McDonald’s Monopoly?

A McDonald’s meal on a red tray includes fries, a Big Mac in a box, a soft drink, and a brown paper bag. All packaging displays Monopoly-themed promotional stickers. The background is a tiled wall and floor.
McDonald’s

There’s one update to McDonald’s Monopoly- there are no more paper Monopoly boards. So there’ll be no more sticking your little Baltic Avenue and Reading Railroad pieces to the board, looking to see which hard-to-get pieces you still need.

Instead, as you probably guessed, the game is now primarily digital. Thankfully, McDonald’s hasn’t done away with physical game pieces altogether, so you’ll still get that satisfying peel off your Big Mac box. But some game pieces are now entirely digital, too, and you’ll need to have the chain’s mobile app and be a member of the rewards program to play and redeem prizes.

How Do I Play?

Instructional image showing steps for playing McDonald's Monopoly. Steps include migrating to the app, ordering, peeling a game piece, scanning in the app, collecting properties, and playing for prizes. Bold text and app visuals included.

The game is pretty much the same as it’s always been. You collect game pieces by buying McDonald’s food and drinks that correspond to squares on a Monopoly board. Once you’ve collected all the pieces in a property, you win a prize. No matter whether you get paper game pieces or digital ones, you still have to enter them into the mobile app gameboard to get any prizes.

Some pieces are also instant-win prizes, offering coupons for McDonald’s items. For those, you need to order through the app to redeem your freebie.

Which Food Items Have Game Pieces?

Not everything McDonald’s sells has game pieces on it. Here is the list of items that have both physical and digital game pieces.

Physical Game Pieces

  • Big Mac
  • Filet-O-Fish
  • McMuffin Sandwiches
  • 10 Piece Chicken McNuggets
  • 20 Piece Chicken McNuggets
  • Large Fries
  • Hash Browns
  • Large Fountain Drinks
  • Large McCafé Iced Coffee
  • Medium and Large McCafé Hot Coffee Drinks

Digital Game Pieces

  • Quarter Pounder with Cheese
  • McCrispy Sandwiches
  • 4 Piece McCrispy Strips
  • McGriddles Sandwiches (excluding Sausage McGriddles)
  • Biscuit Sandwiches
  • Medium Fries
  • Large McCafé Latte
  • Large McCafé Frappé
  • Large McCafé Iced Mocha
  • Large McCafé Smoothie
  • Large McCafé Macchiato

What Are the Prizes?

Two green McDonald's apple pie boxes are stacked, each featuring an image of a baked apple pie and the text "We made you this apple pie" with the McDonald's logo and the phrase "i'm lovin' it.

There’s a wide range of prizes in McDonald’s Monopoly. Some have instant-win food items, such as apple pies, small drinks, or 4-piece McNuggets. Then there are the really big prizes that you receive for collecting all the pieces in the property. For instance, if you collect Boardwalk and Park Place, you’ll win a Winnebago motorhome. There’s also a 77-inch Samsung TV, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a trip for four to Universal Orlando Resort, and one million American Airlines AAdvantage miles, to name a few.

McDonald’s Launches Lil Happy Meals with Miniature Toys

July 1, 2025 By Dayton937

McDonald’s is going small in a big way this summer with the launch of Lil McDonald’s Happy Meals, a limited-time collection of 21 miniature toys inspired by the fast-food giant’s most iconic features. Starting July 1 through August 11, 2025, customers across the U.S. can collect tiny versions of McDonald’s staples—from a Boo Bucket and Happy Meal box to a mini cash register, delivery truck, and even a pint-sized PlayPlace.

The Lil McDonald’s collection taps into the joy of imaginative play and nostalgia, with toys that replicate everything from a McNugget box to a self-ordering kiosk. “There’s something magical about watching your child’s imagination come to life with these tiny toys,” said Anna Engel, Director of Marketing for McDonald’s USA. The toys are designed to let kids “play McDonald’s” at home—turning kitchen tables into drive-thrus and living rooms into mini restaurants.

Each Happy Meal includes one of the 21 collectible toys and a scannable code that unlocks Drive Thru Dash, a digital game where players race to take orders and earn points. Families can also download a Lil McDonald’s placemat from HappyMeal.com to create their own play zone, or use the McDonald’s app to find nearby restaurants with real PlayPlaces.

The McRib Is Back…For Now

December 3, 2024 By Dayton937

McDonald’s iconic barbecue sandwich — the McRib — officially returns to participating restaurants nationwide on Tuesday.

Dec. 3 was slated to be the first day the sandwich returned but some restaurants started serving the McRib early.

The McRib is made out of ground pork that is shaped into a patty that is shaped like a rack of ribs and then it is tossed with a house barbecue sauce, otherwise known as McRib sauce.

Then, the McRib patty is topped with slivered onions and pickles, subsequently cushioned between two buns.

Order yours in the McDonald’s app for pickup or delivery before it’s gone.^ The McRib has 520 calories.

McDonald’s has taken time off from releasing the McRib nationwide over the years.

  • The McRib was not available at restaurants nationwide last year, and the chain called 2022 the sandwich’s “farewell tour.”
  • When it returned in 2020, the chain said it was the first time since 2012 that it was available at restaurants nationwide.

It’s Back For A Limited Time.

November 10, 2023 By Dayton937

McDonald’s is officially bringing back the famous barbecue pork sandwich a little more than a year after discontinuing the menu item. But during the upcoming rerelease, customers may have a harder time getting their hands on a McRib than in previous launches.

Rumors that a McRib relaunch was on the horizon began swirling in late September when the food-focused social media account Snackolator posted about the return on Instagram.

“It turns out not everyone was ready to say goodbye to the McRib after last year’s Farewell Tour,” McDonald’s USA said in a statement at the time. The McRib comes on a toasted bun and consists of a boneless pork patty, barbeque sauce, dill pickles and onions.

While the McRib has been offered on a national basis in the past, McDonald’s said that it would only be available at select restaurants during the 2023 launch. However, the chain didn’t specify exactly where customers would be able to purchase the sandwich during the limited rerelease–until now.

The McRib will return to restaurants in Greater Indiana and Southwest Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky starting Nov 11th.

Last year was actually the fourth time that McDonald’s launched a Farewell Tour for the McRib to give it one last hurrah before retiring it from menus. So when the news emerged that it was coming in 2023 following its discontinuation, many customers were far from shocked

McDonalds To Roll Out “Best Burgers Ever”

April 17, 2023 By Dayton937

McDonald’s is about to make their classic burgers even better by making small but tasty improvements to the Big Mac sandwich, McDouble burger and classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger and Hamburger.

McDonald’s Unleashes Its Hottest, Juiciest ‘Best-Ever Burgers’

Here’s a look at the improvements you can expect per McDonald’s:

  • Softer, pillowy buns that are freshly toasted to a golden brown.
  • Perfectly melted cheese that will make you want to savor every last bit off the wrapper.
  • Juicier, caramelized flavor from adding white onions to the patties while they’re still on the grill.
  • Even more of everyone’s favorite Big Mac sauce, bringing more tangy sweetness in every Big Mac bite.

According to McDonald’s, the burgers are so tempting… they’ve caught the attention of McDonaldland’s resident mischief-maker, the Hamburglar. Keep your eyes peeled for the red-handed fugitive (the OG hamburger influencer) who is back to his old burger-snatching tricks in the brand’s newest TV commercial. When you spot his notorious cape and striped outfit in your city, you’ll know that’s when you can head to your local McDonald’s to get your hands on McDonald’s “best-ever burgers.”

Free McDonalds Crispy Chicken Sandwich

February 22, 2021 By Dayton Most Metro

McDonald’s is set to rollout a trio of new chicken sandwiches this February: the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Deluxe Chicken Sandwich.  Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA added that the new sandwich would “jump-start our chicken journey,” suggesting more chicken products to come. McDonald’s launched Spicy Chicken McNuggets this past fall, its first new McNugget flavor in the United States since the item was introduced to the US menu in 1983.  Popeyes, which saw its new sandwich offering sell out just two weeks after it launched nationally in August 2019, has pointed to the sandwich as one reason that it continued to grow during the pandemic. Chick-fil-A, known for its line of chicken sandwiches, has been growing steadily for years.

All three McDonald’s sandwiches will offer a new fillet of all-white meat chicken and a novel crispy breading. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich serves as a simpler option with the fillet and pickles while the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich arrives with the additional lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise. Meanwhile, those with a more adventurous palate can opt for the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with crinkle cut pickles and spicy pepper sauce.

“We’ve heard our customers loud and clear, and we know they’re craving more chicken options,” McDonald’s VP, Innovation Linda VanGosen said in a statement. “We’re confident all chicken fans – from traditionalists to spice enthusiasts – will discover a new menu favorite they’ll come back for time and time again.”

McDonald’s Crispy Chicken, Spicy Chicken and Deluxe Chicken Sandwiches will be available starting February 24.

On Thursday, Feb. 25 starting at 5pm, McDonald’s is offering the first 100 cars in the Drive-Thru a FREE new Crispy Chicken Sandwich, no purchase necessary! One sandwich per car, available while supplies last.

The McRib is Coming Back

October 30, 2020 By Lisa Grigsby

I’ve never understood the fascination with this pork sandwich that McDonald’s seems to roll out about once a year for a limited time.  If it was all that great, wouldn’t the add it to the menu?

But for those of you that are fans, mark your calendar for December 2nd when this fan-favorite returns. Not familiar? It’s seasoned boneless pork, swimming in a smoky, tangy barbecue sauce. It’s then topped with slivered onions and tart pickles on the bun to round out the flavor profile.

The McRib has been a beloved menu item at McDonald’s since its inception nearly 40 years ago,” Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation, said in a statement. “There’s nothing quite like the taste of the McRib. To our customers, it’s become more than a delicious, saucy moment … It’s a season, and it’s taking the internet by storm. That’s why this year, we’re proud to serve the McRib nationwide for everyone to enjoy.”

The Countdown is On For the Return of Shamrock Shakes!

February 6, 2020 By Dayton Most Metro

McDonald’s has announced that Shamrock Shakes will be back in stores on February 19th.

The shake, which was invented by McDonald’s franchise owner Hal Rosen in 1967, was first launched at select restaurants in 1970, so this marks the minty drink’s 50th anniversary. Interesting fact, initially, the shake was lemon/lime flavored with vanilla ice cream, lemon/lime sherbet, and vanilla syrup. By 1973, the shake was merely a green colored vanilla shake, eliminating the lemon/lime sherbet. It is now mint flavored. In 1974, sales from the popular seasonal drink helped build the very first Ronald McDonald House, which helps families with children who need medical care.  .25 cent from every sale supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton

McDonald’s has also revealed a new menu item, the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry, will debut on the same day as Shamrock Shake’s return to McDonald’s menus. This new dessert consists of vanilla soft serve blended with Shamrock flavor and Oreo cookie pieces. How good does that sound?

“We’re excited to serve up a new way to experience the one-of-a-kind Shamrock flavor in our new Oreo Shamrock McFlurry,” Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s vice president of menu innovation, said in a press release. “Our chefs worked to get the perfect balance of Oreo cookies and mint for this new delicious dessert. We can’t wait for customers to get a taste this spring.”

Like every year, these items are only available for a limited time.
