Rose Announces Two Shows: Bonnie Raitt & Buddy Guy

February 4, 2025 By Lisa Grigsby

Bonnie Raitt is heading back out for her fourth year on tour just months after being recognized for her lifetime of artistic achievements as part of the Kennedy Center’s 47th Class of Honorees in Washington, DC last December. Raitt and her world-class band will headline theaters and amphitheaters around the country performing songs from her enduring catalog, including Rose Music Center at The Heights on Saturday, September 6.  Her tour has taken her across the U.S. and Canada with stops overseas in Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland and Europe since the release of her critically acclaimed, three-time GRAMMY Award-winning studio album, Just Like That… in 2022.

Raitt said, “I’m looking forward to having my longtime pal and one of my favorite artists, blues legend Jimmie Vaughan & The Tilt-A-Whirl Band be our special guests for the late Summer tour. We’ve shared many gigs and duets over the years but never as a ‘double trouble’ co-bill.  Bound to be some good blues rockin’ going on – can’t wait to hit the road together!” Vaughan agrees,“Thrilled to play some shows with my talented friend Bonnie Raitt and her band!  It’s been a long time coming!  Myself and The Tilt-A-Whirl Band are excited to be part of this great tour.”

Raitt earned her 31st GRAMMY nomination in December, Best American Roots Performance, for her contribution to the track “Nothing In Rambling,” a wonderful cover of Memphis Minnie’s song featuring Fabulous Thunderbirds founding member Kim Wilson, along with Bonnie, Keb’ Mo’, Taj Mahal and Mick Fleetwood.  The track appears on the Fabulous Thunderbirds’ latest album, Struck Down, also nominated for the GRAMMY Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Eight-time GRAMMY® Award-winning blues legend Buddy Guy is giving fans another chance to experience his electrifying live show with the newly announcedDamn Right Encore Tour. Extending his historic farewell run into summer 2025, the tour will feature headline dates across the U.S., including a return to Rose Music Center at The Heights on Saturday, June 14 with support by special guest Eric Gales.

As one of the last living legends of the blues, Buddy Guy has inspired generations of musicians, from Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton and John Mayer. His Damn Right Farewell tour has been a celebration of his extraordinary career, and the newly added Damn Right Encore dates give even more fans the opportunity to witness a blues master at work.

Tickets for both of these shows will go on sale to the public beginning at 10AM on Friday, February 7 at Ticketmaster.comand the Rose Music Center Box Office.

Multi-platinum artist Elle King makes her Rose Music Center debut July 20!

April 2, 2024 By Dayton937

Elle King can do many things, ranging from exuberant alternative/punk to soul pop. She’s also been a compelling presence in country music; winning both Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards and breaking the 30-year-old, glass-ceiling record for women on the radio charts with the lead single “Drunk (And I Don’t Want To Go Home).” She’s collaborated with Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde and been on tour with Chris Stapleton for the better part of 2022; it’s been an unbridled love fest with Nashville’s music community.

She made it country music official with 2023’s Come Get Your Wife, a dozen glorious tracks that run a gauntlet of styles and attitudes leaving King’s roots showing. The quadruple Grammy nominee co-produced the album with award winning songwriter Ross Copperman and the result is a collection that moves through all the topics. From being a hot mess, a glorious excess, and a woman coming into her own, King has created a very real, small-town frayed at the edges but solid at core missal.

“Even the album title, it comes from something some asshole said to my partner one night. Something thrown off in a bar, intended to put me in my place… and he probably didn’t think twice about it. But I did.”

Indeed, she did. Elle King, singular, swaggering, sardonic, is a musically and personally fearless woman. With Come Get Your Wife, she sharpens her gaze, digs into her roots, puts her banjo front and center, and creates a record that’s as alive and electric as she is. Taking all the pieces – the rock, soul, (blue)grass and country that she loves – she’s made an album that demands your attention, then delivers on all cylinders.

“There’s something about how you put the pieces together,” King offers of her first true country project. “This whole album is a crazy quilt of all sorts of moments and things that might not seem to go together, but because they’re me, they do. It’s very Southern Ohio, very who we are – and very much a lot of people who are just like me, because I know they’re out there.”

Tickets go on sale THIS FRIDAY at 10am. Get more info ➜ bit.ly/elleking-24

Funk & Reggae Team Up for Show at The Rose

February 24, 2023 By Dayton937

Psychedelic funk sextet Lettuce and legendary roots reggae band Steel Pulse will unite on a three-week-long coheadlining summer tour for 13 unforgettable shows. They will  stop in Huber Heights, OH for a performance at Rose Music Center on Saturday, July 8.  Each band will present a full set with support by professional big wave surfer-turned-musician Makua Rothman.

Lettuce & Steel Pulse Concert Poster

Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning at Noon on Friday, February 24 atTicketmaster.com and RoseMusicCenter.com. The summer tour will feature VIP exclusive pre-show hangouts with both bands, group photo opportunities with both bands, exclusive Steel Pulse & Lettuce collaborative merchandise, and more. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit:http://ffm.to/lettucesteelpulsetour

Both projects are coming off remarkable years and active spring schedules leading up to the summer tour. 2022 saw the release of Unify, Lettuce’s eighth studio album that got the endorsement from legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins who guests on vocals and bass on the anthemic lead single “Keep the Funk Alive.” The group has maintained an active schedule on the road supporting the release of Unify and will have racked up appearances at Jam Cruise; Backwoods Music Festival; a 3-night residency at the celebrated Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC; and a very special performance with the Louisiana Philharmonic and Tower of Power during Jazz Fest before uniting with Steel Pulse.

Formed in 1975, Steel Pulse has amassed 9 GRAMMY nominations and one win throughout their storied career. One of the nominations was for their latest studio offering, Mass Manipulation, which reflects on four decades committed to bettering mankind through music.

The band will trek through club dates with Orange County-based, cross-cultural reggae band Common Kings; a pair of shows in Hawaii; an April 20th show at Red Rocks Amphitheater with The Marley Brothers; an appearance at São Paulo, Brazil’s Encontro das Tribos Festival alongside Wiz Khalifa, Ice Cube & more; and a one-off show in Martinique’s Mizik Nou Live Festival prior to hitting the road with Lettuce.

What may seem like a sonically contrasting pairing on paper excites each project as they cite the co-billed tour as an opportunity to introduce each band to one another’s fan base every night instilling a sense of curiosity and enlightenment. David Hinds, lead singer and guitarist of Steel Pulse, draws comparisons to the group’s 1981 tour with Average White Band. “It’s an experience of going into the unknown that we ourselves first encountered touring with Average White Band 42 years ago,” he says, “I know it left us being far more knowledgeable musicians; tapping into different forms of arrangements.”

Hinds’ mention of Average White Band brings an even more full circle nature to the tour as Adam Deitch, drummer of Lettuce, performed with AWB on drums for three years after studying at Berklee School of Music. As Deitch continues to carry the torch and has solidified himself as one of today’s most revered drummers, he echoes Hinds’ sentiments of anticipation, “It’s a complete honor to be sharing the stage with a legendary band like Steel Pulse. They are powerful musical shamans and we look forward to such a spiritual experience.”

Daughtry 2020 Tour At The Rose in August

April 13, 2020 By Lisa Grigsby

GRAMMY® Award-nominated and multi-platinum selling band Daughtry has announced 2020 tour dates with special guest The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. The tour will include a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Thursday, August 20th.

As the frontman for the band bearing his name, Chris Daughtry has become one of the most visible and consistent rock & roll torchbearers of the 21st Century. Daughtry has released five albums, all of which reached the Billboard Top Ten and have combined sales over 8 million copies in the U.S.

Daughtry’s self-titled debut was the best-selling album of 2007, which contained four Top Twenty hit singles including the Grammy-nominated smash “It’s Not Over.” Leave This Town also reached Number One in 2009, while 2011’s Break the Spell was certified gold. 2013’s Baptized, featured the platinum-selling “Waiting for Superman,” which the singer points to as a turning point in his songwriting.

“It was a nice hybrid of where we had been and where we’re going, and it opened my eyes a bit,” says Daughtry. “Everything was so serious and doom and gloom, and ‘You broke my heart,’ but we never saw ourselves as those people outside the music — onstage we were always joking around. That helped me wrap my head around the fact that we can be light-hearted and still be us. And that really changed the way I approach the songs in general.”

Daughtry and his band have been performing together for over a decade. “Like anything with a ten year relationship, you know more about each other than you do most of your family,” says Chris Daughtry. “It’s a love-hate thing — you get sick of being around them, but after two weeks at home you’re ready to get back out on the road and do it again. The fan base really keeps us alive. That’s the key ingredient to keeping a band together — that’s the gasoline, and without it you can’t run.”

One thing that has kept the fire burning for Daughtry has been the need to constantly challenge himself creatively. This kind of ambition has also extended to the work of Daughtry the band. “We always try to push ourselves outside of the familiar parameters,” says the singer. “If it’s anything like we’ve done before, then it’s not good enough for the record.

“If you look at the groups doing it for twenty-plus years,” he continues, “they were always changing their style, testing the water, going off the rails from what people expected — Zeppelin, Elton, Prince, they never did the same record twice. So there’s always that effort to push yourself as an artist, but I never want to abandon that sense of melody and sense of something that people can grab onto, whether it conjures up memories or helps them through a tough time. That’s what I love about music, when it makes me feel something.”

More than ten years after launching with a massive splash, Chris Daughtry claims that he and the band have grown the most on stage, and that it’s altered his whole sense of his work. “When we first came out, I’d only known what I’d seen,” he says. “I didn’t know how to be vulnerable, with no pretense. Now it’s walk onstage and, especially in our acoustic shows, just be flat-out honest and open. It’s really helped me realize that’s actually what fans want — they want 100 percent honesty and feeling like they got to know you better.”

Tickets for the Huber Heights show will go on sale to the public beginning at 10am on Friday, April 17th at www.Ticketmaster.com andwww.Rosemusiccenter.com. Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.  Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice. All events rain or shine.

Stray Cats Strut into Huber Heights This August

March 5, 2019 By Dayton Most Metro

THE STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early ’80s, are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a new tour and album. The new album, titled 40, marks their first new music in 26 years and is set for release on May 24 via Surfdog Records (CD, vinyl, digital). The 40th Anniversary Tour will make a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Wednesday, August 14th.

The Stray Cats scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly’s original heyday.

Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge.

Their massive hits and videos include “Runaway Boys,” “Rock This Town,” “Stray Cat Strut” “(She’s) Sexy + 17,” and “I Won’t Stand in Your Way.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning at 11:00am on Friday, March 8TH at Ticketmaster.com, RoseMusicCenter.com or charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000. Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice. All events rain or shine.

Jaquire King states, “the thought of working with Chris really intrigued me. With a legendary career spanning more than four decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. This “garage band” from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Composing a catalogue that includes fifteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), and two one million-selling gold singles, ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ and ‘Dust in the Wind.’ KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70’s and ‘80’s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and ‘Dust In the Wind’ has been played on the radio more than three million times.

2016 marked the release of “The Prelude Implicit,” KANSAS’s fifteenth studio album. The wide-ranging progressive rock album was released on InsideOut Music, and marked the band’s first studio album release in 16 years.

Throughout 2016-2017, the band celebrated both the release of “The Prelude Implicit” and the anniversary of breakout album “Leftoverture” with the highly successful KANSAS: Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. That tour was released in 2017 as a live album, “Leftoverture Live & Beyond.”

The band, which is currently comprised of original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, keyboardist David Manion, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. KANSAS continues to perform in front of large and enthusiastic audiences around the world.

Along with constant touring, KANSAS continues to remain a fixture of Classic Rock radio. The band has reached a whole new audience through their unmistakable presence on the popular video games Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and through their songs’ inclusion in various television shows such as ‘Supernatural,’ and ‘South Park,’ and with films ‘Old School,’ and ‘Anchorman.’

YES: The 50th Anniversary Tour To Play The Rose

April 16, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

2018 marks the 50-year anniversary since the formation of one of rock’s all-time ground-breaking supergroups, YES. And to mark this milestone, YES Featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman will celebrate by touring the world as part of ‘Quintessential YES: The 50th Anniversary Tour.’ The tour will include a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Sunday, September 9th.

In addition to what is promising to be truly memorable shows that span the band’s career, there are also several upcoming YES-related events and releases in store, including:

  • YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman: 100 Show World Tour

The 100 show World Tour will commence on June 3, 2018 in Warsaw, Poland, and feature shows in Scandinavia, Germany, UK (including headlining the Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena in London) and North America in 2018, going on to South America, Central and Southern Europe, ending in Japan and the Far East in 2019.

  • Whisky a Go Go concert

YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman will return to their roots by performing at the Whisky a Go Go, the iconic venue they first performed as a headliner in June 1971.  Information on tickets to this show will be available at a later date.

  • US Tour

The band will then play 9 shows in August and September including the Greek Theatre in LA on August 29th and Chicagoland’s Ravinia outside on September 7th before continuing the US Leg with 20+ shows in early 2019.

  • Quintessential YES 50th Anniversary album and CD

In August, Warner Bros. Records will be releasing an historical 2 CD/3 LP anthology of YES curated by band founder/singer Jon Anderson.

  • Live CD & DVD

There will also be released in August/September by Eagle Rock a Live CD and DVD of the band’s show from March 2017 recorded live in Manchester, UK, featuring special mixed in OE Audio by Paul Linford and Trevor Rabin.

  • New Music

In addition to all of the above, the band are currently hard at work, creating some stellar new recordings for their 50th Anniversary. This will be the first new music in 28 years featuring Jon Anderson/Trevor Rabin/Rick Wakeman together. It is planned these will also be available for release by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

The most successful progressive rock group of all time, 2017 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees YES, was co-founded by Jon Anderson and the late Chris Squire in 1968. They went on to sell millions of units with releases such as The YES Album, Fragile, Close to The Edge, Tales From Topographic Oceans, Going For The One and 90125, as well as embarking on several record-breaking world tours.

Whilst Rick is predominantly associated with the ’70s “prog era” of the band (which saw YES become a worldwide stadium headliner) and Trevor associated with the ’80s “mainstream era” of the band (which furthered the band’s popularity – including the band’s biggest chart success 90125), Jon is the bridge between both factions (as he was a guiding vision of both eras). The touring band line-up is completed by two extraordinary musicians – Lee Pomeroy on bass and Louis Molino III on drums – who help to ensure that YES’ immaculate artistic legacy remains intact.

The worldwide tour with YES Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman is being produced by renowned concert promoter Larry Magid, who is considered an architect and leader of the modern concert business. With over 17,000 concerts and live events to his credit and still counting, he has produced national and international tours for YES, Billy Crystal, Richard Pryor, Bette Midler, Stevie Wonder, Robin Williams, Gladys Knight, The Isley Bros., Earth Wind & Fire, ARW, Il Divo, The Allman Brothers Band, Patti LaBelle, Grover Washington Jr. and many others. In 1985 Larry Magid, co-produced the American portion of Live Aid, and in 2005, he was the American producer of Live 8. In 2001, he produced the United We Stand concert at RFK Stadium to benefit the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show will go on sale to the public beginning 11am on Friday, April 20th at www.Ticketmaster.com andwww.Rosemusiccenter.com. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000. *Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.  Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice. All events rain or shine.

Jason Isbell Returns to The Rose

February 26, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

Following a wildly successful tour in 2017, GRAMMY award-winning Jason Isbell and The 400 will return to the road in 2018. The tour will make a stop at Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, OH on Tuesday, July 17. The show will feature support by special guest Hiss Golden Messenger.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s new album, The Nashville Sound, is a beautiful piece of American music- making, but watch yourself: it will light a fire under you. This album is a call, and the songs on it send sparks flying into a culture that’s already running so hot the needle on the temperature gauge is bouncing erratically in the red. And while it’s understandable that, in this moment, some people want their radio to help them drift away, this finely calibrated set of ten songs is aimed right between the clear eyes of people who prefer to stay present and awake. It’s a call to those who won’t cower no matter how erratically the world turns, and who aren’t afraid of what looks back when they look in the mirror. Bruce Springsteen did that. Neil Young did that. Jason Isbell does that.

As with Isbell’s 2013 breakthrough, Southeastern, and his double-Grammy-winning follow up, 2015’s Something More Than Free, The Nashville Sound was produced by Dave Cobb. Isbell says that he and Cobb created a simple litmus test for the decisions they made in the two weeks they spent at RCA Studios (which was known as “The home of the Nashville Sound” back in the ’60’s and ’70s): they only made sonic moves that their heroes from back in the day could’ve made, but simply never did. It’s a shrewd approach—an honest way to keep the wiz-bang of modern recording technology at arm’s length, while also leaving the old bag of retro rock ’n’ roll tricks un-rummaged. Lyrically, The Nashville Sound is timely. Musically, it is timeless.

It’s also worth noting that this album isn’t credited to Isbell alone. For the first time since 2011’s Here We Rest, Isbell’s band, the 400 Unit, gets title billing. “Even when I was writing, I could always hear the band’s stamp on the finished product,” Jason says. “These songs needed more collaboration on the arrangements to make them work, and I felt like the band deserved it after the way they played.” Given Cobb’s strict insistence on cutting songs live with no demos or rehearsals, you can easily imagine how the brilliantly raw performances on the record will translate to the stage when the band takes these new songs out on the road.

And boy, there’s nothing like a 400 Unit show. Not just because the band smokes, but also because Isbell’s fans are among music’s most ardent. And when the band kicks in, they are ecstatic. It’s a rock ’n’ roll show that feels like fellowship.

Which begs a question: Why do Jason’s songs strike us so deeply? What makes this music of the soul? The answer has to do with Jason’s authenticity, his intellect, his rootedness in both tradition as well as modernity. Simply put, Jason has a gift for taking big, messy human experiences and compressing them into little combustible packages made of rhythm, melody and madly efficient language. The songs are full of little hooks—it could be guitar line that catches one listener, or a quick lyric that strikes to the heart of another—and an act of transference takes place. The stories Jason tells become our own. The music is coming not from Jason and the band, but from within us.

As you listen to this record, you will hear many themes: humor, heartache, wisdom, beauty, hope. But chief among them, strangely, is leadership.

If Southeastern (2013) was the Getting Sober record (Jason has been searingly honest in both songs and interviews about the time he spent in rehab), and Something More Than Free (2015) was the New Clarity record, maybe this one, The Nashville Sound, is the Way Forward.

And who better to lead us forward than Jason Isbell? Jason is a relentless and fearless self interrogator. And this album is a challenge, a gauntlet in song: Let’s claim ownership of our biases (“White Man’s World”). Let’s embrace and celebrate the uncomfortable idea that the force that activates both life and love is death (the instant classic “If We Were Vampires”). Let’s consciously choose light over darkness (“Hope the High Road”). And for God’s sake, if you are feeling anxious, alone, disenfranchised, depressed, mad, or scared, find something that gasses you up and work at it (“Something to Love”). Jason, it seems, after years grinding the rail that separates terra firma from the brink, has put in the sweat equity it takes to hug it out with his demons and fill his life with meaning, bright and clean.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show will go on sale to the public beginning 11am on Friday, March 2nd atwww.Ticketmaster.com and www.Rosemusiccenter.com. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.

Buddy Guy, Huey Lewis & The News and Brit Floyd Dates Announce

January 29, 2018 By Dayton Most Metro

It was big morning of announcements for The Rose Music Center!  Here are the latest additions to the summer schedule for the Huber Heights Ami

Friday, May 11th –  BRIT FLOYD – ECLIPSE WORLD TOUR 2018
45 YEARS OF THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

Tuesday, June 26th – HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

Wednesday, July 11th – BUDDY GUY & JONNY LANG

ABOUT Huey Lewis and The News

Huey Lewis and The News – one of America’s greatest rock & roll bands – will return to Rose . As they enter their 39th year together, their contagious brand of music has outlasted countless trends, and is as fresh today as ever.

Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, Huey Lewis and The News continue to thrill audiences worldwide, selling over 20 million albums in the process, earning them the right to mark their place on the pop history map.

These Grammy Award winners have written and performed such classic Top Ten Hits as “Heart of Rock & Roll”, “Stuck With You”, “I Want A New Drug”, “If This Is It”, “Hip To Be Square” “Do You Believe In Love” and “Workin’ For A Livin”. The group also wrote and performed “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” for the hit film Back To The Future. “The Power of Love”, nominated for an Academy Award, went to #1 on Billboard’s singles chart, and was a smash hit worldwide.

GRAMMY award winning guitarists Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang are teaming up for a not-to-be-missed co-headline show at the Rose  on Wednesday, July 11th.

ABOUT BUDDY GUY:

At age 81, Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues. Buddy Guy has received 7 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, a Kennedy Center Honor, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

Buddy Guy is a genuine American treasure and one of the final surviving connections to an historic era in the country’s musical evolution.

“I worry a lot about the legacy of Muddy, Wolf, and all the guys who created this stuff,” he says. “I want people to remember them. One of the last things Muddy Waters told me—when I found out how ill he was, I gave him a call and said, ‘I’m on my way to your house.’ And he said, ‘Don’t come out here, I’m doing all right. Just keep the damn blues alive.’ They all told me that if they left here before I did, then everything was going to be on my shoulders. So as long as I’m here, I’m going to do whatever I can to keep it alive.”

ABOUT JONNY LANG

It is hard to believe that at 36 years old Jonny Lang has already had a successful career for two decades. Easier to believe when you learn he released his first platinum record at 15 – an age when many young people are just beginning to play music. Lie to Me revealed a talent that transcended the crop of blues prodigies floating around in the late Nineties. No flashy re-hasher of classic blues licks, even at that early age Lang was a full-blown artist with a style of his own.

What began as a bluesy sound, influenced by electric pioneers like Albert Collins, B. B. King, and Buddy Guy, evolved over those recordings into a modern R&B style closer to Stevie Wonder and contemporary gospel music. Lang’s distinctive, blues-inflected licks appeared on every album, but became one element in a sea of passionately sung and tightly arranged songs.

ABOUT BRIT FLYOD:

Brit Floyd, the world’s greatest Pink Floyd tribute show returns to the stage in 2018 for a very special ’45th Anniversary’ retrospective of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon.

Having sold in excess of 45 million copies and judged by many as the greatest rock album of all time, The Dark Side of the Moon was an ambitious psychedelic masterpiece that redefined rock itself and propelled Pink Floyd and its members to rock immortality.

Each night Brit Floyd will perform classic tracks from The Dark Side of the Moon alongside gems from Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and The Division Bell plus lots more.

The Brit Floyd show has truly become a phenomenon, widely regarded as the world’s greatest live tribute to Pink Floyd. Faithfully recreating the scale and pomp of the final 1994 Division Bell tour, complete with a stunning million dollar light show, large circle screen and arch plus moving lights, lasers, inflatables and theatrics. A Brit Floyd show really is as close as fans will get to experiencing the magnificence of a Pink Floyd show live.

Tickets for all three of these shows at The Rose  will go on sale to the public beginning 11am on Friday, February 2nd atwww.Ticketmaster.com and www.Rosemusiccenter.com. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.

Grab Your Cheap Sunglasses, ZZ Top Coming to Town

May 30, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, ZZ Top, will bring The Tonnage Tour to Huber Heights, Ohio at Rose Music Center on Sunday, September 24th. The show will feature support by Black Stone Cherry.

ZZ TOP, “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” lay undisputed claim to being the longest running major rock band with original personnel intact. In 2004, the Texas trio (Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill, Frank Beard) was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After more than 45 years of rock, blues, and boogie on the road and in the studio, the trio is still very much together.

The elements that keep ZZ TOP fresh, enduring and above the transitory fray can be summed up in the three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone, Taste and Tenacity.”  Of course, the three members of the band have done their utmost to do their part in assuring that ZZ TOP prevails.  As genuine roots musicians, the members of the band have few peers.  Billy is widely regarded as one of American finest blues guitarists working in the rock idiom.  Part mad scientist, part prankster, he’s a musical innovator of the highest order and a certified “guitar god.”

Dusty has long had an affinity for rock’s origins; his earliest performances as a child included Elvis songs convincingly performed.  Not only is he a bass virtuoso in his own right, his vocal prowess is awe-inspiring.  He’s the lead voice you hear on “Tush” and his ferocious vocals are heard, to great effect, on his idol Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” these days, often a concert encore number and recorded by the band on Fandango! Good natured and diligent, Dusty is the rock solid bottom of ZZ TOP.

Frank has also been keeping the beat in that great tradition.  As both a roots and progressive drummer, he has been acknowledged as key to the band’s powerful on-stage and in-studio presence. He and Dusty, in their early years together, served as Lightnin’ Hopkins’ rhythm section which, as Frank tells it, was a life changing experience.  He’s a rockin’ paradox who provides the pulse of ZZ TOP.

ZZ TOP’s music is always instantly recognizable, eminently powerful, profoundly soulful and 100% Texas American in derivation.  The band’s support for the blues is unwavering both as interpreters of the music and preservers of its legacy. ZZ TOP’s support and link to the blues remains as rock solid as the music they continue to play.  They have sold millions of records over the course of their career, they have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, have been officially designated as Heroes of The State of Texas, have been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms and are true rock icons but, against all odds, they’re really just doing what they’ve always done. They’re real and they’re surreal and they’re ZZ TOP.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, June 2nd at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, and the Rose Music Center box office. Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.

All patrons who purchase a ticket to ZZ Top will be treated to a Pre-Show Craft Beer Tasting. Pre Show Tastings begin 90 minutes prior to the show and end 15 minutes before the concert begins. All Pre-Show Tastings will be located on the main concourse. Must be 21 years of age and have a valid ID to participate.
