Grandma’s Gardens will be hosting their first ever Great Scarecrow Festival on Sat, Sept 16th on their Waynesville Grounds to kick off fall.  Scarecrow frames are available now at the garden center, but spaces are limited – so sign up today by calling  937.885.2740. There is no cost to enter the contest.
It will be a day of all things festive with a day of spooky, spectacular scarecrows, fall-themed food vendors, and the grand opening of our new, and improved, railroad! Enjoy a coffee and meander through the gardens. Snack on festive treats like gourmet candy apples and kettle corn, or grab something to eat from the five food trucks that will be on hand. Shop vendors, fresh pumpkins and Fall decor.

Enter the Scarecrow Contest to compete for prizes!
• 1st Place – $300
• 2nd Place – $200
• 3rd Place – $100
• People’s Choice Award – $300
(Yes, that does mean your team can win up to $600 if your team claims 1st place and people’s choice!)
All prizes are awarded per team/group

The judging will be on creativity, design and overall impressions.  Judges from Grandma’s staff will pick the winners, and there will be an additional people’s choice award.

Contest Guidelines:

Contestants will take their Scarecrow frames home with them and bring them back the day of the event. All other supplies are up to you. They encourage contestants to do the majority of their assembly offsite. Final touches can be added the day of judging from 9:00am-12:45pm on Saturday, September 16th. ALL SCARECROWS MUST BE ON SITE BY 12:45PM SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PRIZES. Judging will begin promptly at 1:00pm Saturday, September 16th

On the day of the festival, look for the plaque with your team’s name on it. A PVC pipe that fits your scarecrow’s frame will be provided to keep your scarecrow upright.  The judging will be on creativity, design and overall impressions.  Judges from Grandma’s staff will pick the winners, and there will be an additional people’s choice award.

About Lisa Grigsby

Lisa Grigsby is a Special Events Director with over thirty years experience in promotions, event coordination and public relations.

Owning Jokers Comedy Cafe for 20 years taught Lisa to maintain a sense of humor under pressure. She credits Leadership Dayton for exposing her to the amazing assets of the region and Clothes That Work for being her reason she stayed in Dayton. Her proudest accomplishment as a past president of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association was creating Restaurant Week, a twice a year tradition that continues to grow and benefit local charities as well. As a foodie, it's only natural that she continues to promote local restaurateurs with DaytonDining.

As a Dayton Catalyst, her desire to have ONE community calendar and advocate for the amazing assets of the region helped create the vision for the relaunch of DaytonMostMetro, now Dayton 937.com
