John Doe Folk Trio at Levitt

Canal Music Fest

The 2023 Canal Music Fest will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 6:00 p.m., at City Park, in Tipp City, Ohio. Food and beverages will be available beginning at 5:00 p.m. Vendors on site will be Buckeye Burgers, Nou Street Food, Pa’s Pork, Raging Bull Wood Fired Pizza, Susie’s Big Dipper, Kona Ice and Bolasko’s Concessions. Skull Dollz Face Painters will also on site.
Join us for a night of music featuring “Shot Through the Heart—The Bon Jovi Experience,” local favorite “Stranger” and hometown fav “znels.”
The Canal Music Fest is free and open to the public. No coolers permitted. Join us on June 10 and bring your lawn chair or blanket. You will find us in the park, north of the Tipp City Aquatic Center. Enter from Parkwood Drive, where free parking will be available. City of Dayton Jazz Fest Cancelled, Funk, Blues & Reggae To Continue!

According to Bryan Taulbee from the City of Dayton Office of Communications and Public Affairs, declining attendance at the annual Jazz Festival was the main reason for this cancellation of this event that had been scheduled for June 12th of  this year.

He say the Dayton Blues Festival is  still on  for  Sunday,  July  23rd  at  Levitt  Pavilion, as is the Funk Festival for Sunday, August 13th, and the Dayton Reggae Festival for Sunday, Sept 3rd.  He shared  that  the  three  festivals are  what  the  city  can  handle right now.

Summer Concert Series: Practically Petty

Tom Petty Tribute Band, Practically Petty has been mesmerizing audiences since 2009. Every performance is true to the spirit and essence of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
The group also prides itself on using the same equipment as the Heartbreakers so as not to leave any stone unturned.
Their extensive song catalog includes all of Petty’s hits with the Heartbreakers as well as his solo work and other side projects like The Traveling Wilburys

A Summer Full of Free Music

The Miami Valley is full of free music this summer.  Here’s a run down of some of the places you can catch a free concert:

Levitt Pavilion Dayton
134 S. Main Street, Dayton

With free concerts from June to mid- September,  bring a lawn chairs (or rent one for $5) and blankets, pack a picnic, BYOB (no glass bottles). If weather requires a show cancellation, updates also a posted on the Levitt Pavilion Dayton’s website,  Facebook page and Twitter.

There are two VIP patios to either side of the Levitt lawn that are available for private receptions. This is a great area to utilize for parties, company outings, and clients. It is $1000 to rent the larger patio and $500 for the smaller for the night. They provide tables, chairs, and linens. You are welcome to bring in catering for your group.

 

The Pavilion at RiverScape MetroPark

The Five Rivers MetroParks RiverScape Summer Music series kicks off and is divided into 3 series:

Pickin’ in the Park is a free, all-ages event that features live, progressive bluegrass music and food trucks from 6 to 10 pm on select Friday nights. This year’s lineup is:

  • June 3: Bigfoot Yancey and Al Scorch and the Country Soul Ensemble
  • Aug. 5: Sawgrass and Old Salt Union

R&B Hot Summer Music:  These free concerts are held on select Fridays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm and presented by Buckeye Health Plan.

  • June 10: KICK-N-FLAVA
  • July 8: LYD
  • Aug. 12: Premium Blend Music

Big Band Nights: These free concerts are held select Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

  • June 9: Bob Gray Orchestra
  • June 23: Tom Daugherty Orchestra
  • July 7: The Dayton Jazz Orchestra
  • July 21: Barry Campbell and his Big Band with vocalist Elaina McCormick
  • Aug. 11: The Kim Kelly Orchestra

All RiverScape Summer Music series concerts are free. Check out the Five Rivers MetroParks website for a full schedule and concert updates.

Centerville Community Amphitheater at Stubbs Park
255 W Spring Valley Pike, Centerville

Stubbs Park provides a great setting for theses free community concerts.  Bring your own chairs or blankets and plan on arriving early- these shows bring out big crowds.

All concerts are free and organized by the Centerville Arts Commission.

Levitt Pavilion Season Opens Thursday

The 2023 Eichelberger Concert Season of free concerts at the Levitt Pavilion Dayton kicks off  Thursday, June 1st with audience favorite, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band at 7PM. All concerts in the Eichelberger Concert Season begin at 7PM* and are free and open to the public.

The Levitt Pavilion is in the heart of downtown Dayton at the corner of 5th and Main Street and boasts the gorgeous CareSource lawn providing a green space amid Dayton’s urban core. Levitt Dayton’s free concerts have become a beloved tradition within the community, drawing music enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to experience the joy of live music.

“Music has the power to bring people together and uplift our spirits,” said Lisa Wagner, Executive Director of Levitt Dayton. “We are excited to kick off our sixth season and we invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable evening of music and celebration.”

Concerts at the Levitt Pavilion are held every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through September 16 – apart from July 27-29. Audiences are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and coolers with outside food and drink – including alcohol, although glass is prohibited. Food trucks will be present at each concert and beverages are available for purchase as well. Lawn chairs can be rented for a $5 donation.

SIMPLY QUEEN – Live Tribute

Simply Queen is fronted by Freddie impersonator extraordinaire Rick Rock,
a Canadian songwriter, recording artist and live entertainer for over four decades.
Rick is a vocalist, guitarist, pianist and producer from Windsor, Ontario, now residing in Amherstburg, Ontario. Throughout his storied career, he has entertained countless thousands as both headliner and supporting act for many legendary international artists – often performing for charitable organizations and their associated fund-raising events along the way.
For many years, Rick contemplated a tribute to his iconic rock heroes – Freddie Mercury and Queen. Encouraged by the rising popularity of tribute shows across the globe, the time finally seemed right! Get ready for a summer of great music at the West Carrollton Summer Concert Series! Join us for our monthly Summer Concert events, located at West Carrollton Center (right across from the fire station and beside the sand volleyball court) from 7-9pm. We promise to bring you fresh tunes every month, so grab your friends and come out for an evening of fantastic music.

To make the night even better, we’ll have cold brew and a delicious new lineup of food trucks on site. Make sure to grab a bite and a few adult beverages from the bar, where all beer sales proceeds will be benefiting our friends of the Lady Pirates Softball organization.

Into Space w/ Dixon’s Violin

You’ve never heard violin like this!  The world’s premier visionary violinist, Dixon’s life mission is to inspire people – and he has done so at over 1,000 concerts across North America, including giving four TED talks/performances, over ten years at Burning Man and Electric Forest, plus radio, TV, and film appearances.  A former technology leader and symphony violinist, Dixon walked away from a distinguished career to follow his dream full-time, and invented a whole new music genre.  Dixon now improvises on a 5-string electric violin with a looping system he developed to create an all-live one-man symphony, guided by his remarkable personal story of life transformation.
