ABBAMania at the Sorg!

April 28, 2022 By Dayton937

“ABBAMANIA” is rated as the number one Abba production in the world. The cast of ABBAMANIA is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In the beginning, “ABBAMANIA” was six months in rehearsals just for vocal arrangements. Abba’s harmonies are very difficult to reproduce as ABBA recorded their vocals many times on each record to make them sound so big and full. Not only did the cast have to look like Anni-Frid, Bjorn, Benny and Agnetha, they had to sound like them. ABBAMANIA was a huge venture. They are backed by a live band and carry charts for a full symphony show.

Alan Parsons Live Project

April 24, 2022 By Dayton937

Alan Parsons, the Grammy Award-winning legendary music icon and “sonic master of progressive rock,” was born into a family with an impressive history in entertainment. Alan had dabbled with live performance in his late teens as a folk/blues acoustic player and as a lead guitarist with a blues band called The Earth in the late sixties in his hometown of London. (Their only album, Elemental, surfaced recently and was released by Record Collector Magazine in 2016.) But as soon as he landed a job at the famous Abbey Road Studios at the age of 19, it became clear that the world of sound recording was to dominate his career.

The Latest Additions To Fraze Summer Schedule

April 15, 2022 By Lisa Grigsby

Fraze Pavilion has just announced two more shows for the summer season:

Melissa Etheridge

One Way Out Tour

SAT, JULY 30, 2022. 8:00 PM

TICKETS GO ON SALE 4/23 – 10:00 AM

$45 – Plaza
$40 – Orchestra
$30 – Lawn & Terrace
(Ticket prices increase $5 day of show)
Limit 4 tickets per person first day of sale.

Known for her confessional lyrics and raspy, smoky vocals, Etheridge has remained one of America’s favorite female singer-songwriters for more than two decades.

Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which led to an appearance on the 1989 Grammy Awards show. For several years, her popularity grew around such memorable originals as “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy,” for which she won a Grammy® in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits, “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy® Award for Best Female Rock Performance. In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single, “I Want to Come Over.” Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996. On September 17, 2021, Melissa released a new album called One Way Out. The 9-track album is a collection of songs Etheridge wrote in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s that never made the cut….until now! The time is finally right, and fans will finally get a deeper glimpse to who Melissa was then.

TLC

TLC’s influence transcends genres from pop, hip-hop, R&B to fashion and female  empowerment. They continue to define generations. To date, TLC has sold 85 million Records Worldwide, had 4 Number One singles  in the US, 10 Top Ten singles in the US, won 4 Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Awards, 5 Soul  Train Awards, and 4 Multi-Platinum selling albums, two of them – Fanmail and  CrazySexyCool are certified Diamond by the RIAA and they currently have one billion  plays on Pandora. It’s no surprise that TLC is the best-selling American girl group of all  time.

Formed in Atlanta in 1990, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, two girls  with spirit, smarts and spunk, had their sights set on a big future. Feeling a trio could work better than a duo, a manager recommended  Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas to round out the sound, with their nicknames spelling out the  acronym TLC. By 1992, the girls had not only been signed, but released their first  album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip, to both critical and commercial success, selling 4  million copies in the Unites States and yielding 3 top ten singles. Along with their ability  to blend funk, hip hop and soul, the ladies put female empowerment at the forefront of  their songwriting. Two years later they released their breakthrough album,  CrazySexyCool. Met with critical and commercial  acclaim once more, Rolling Stone ranked it as one of the best 500 Albums of all time  saying it was “highly enjoyable, incredibly influential and a certified classic.” The album  produced 4 top five singles on the Billboard charts and TLC won Video of the Year for  the song “Waterfalls” at the MTV Awards, making them the first black act to do so.

Shaggy

The two-time Grammy winner was born Orville Richard Burrell and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Shaggy got his start as a club DJ in New York City’s burgeoning dancehall scene soon after moving to Brooklyn in his teens. Not long after serving four years in the U.S. Marines (including two tours of duty in the Middle East as part of Operation Desert Storm), he inked his first record deal and quickly scored a global crossover smash with “Oh Carolina.”

As the only diamond-selling dancehall artist in music history, Shaggy, managed by the Cherrytree Music Company, has sold more than 40 million album units to date, in addition to landing eight singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and seven albums on the Billboard 200 (including four in the top 40). He is among the top 3 streamed reggae artists of all time on Spotify (along with Bob Marley & Sean Paul).

Queen Of Southern Soul featuring Nellie Tiger Travis

April 15, 2022 By Dayton937

The pathway from the Mississippi Delta through Memphis to Chicago and onto the rest of the world was paved by some of the most influential artists in music history. Trailblazers like Muddy Waters, Dorothy Moore, BB King and Howling Wolf took the Magnolia State’s signature blues sound from the dusty flatlands of the cotton fields and laid the foundation for all American music to build upon.

Be it R&B, soul, pop, rock n roll, EDM or hip-hop, the cornerstone of modern music was birthed in these humble and destitute beginnings but went on to shape the sound of music across the globe.

The Psychedelic Furs To Play The Rose July 6th

March 28, 2022 By Dayton937

The Psychedelic Furs have announced additional dates for their Made Of Rain 2022 Tour in support of their new album Made Of Rain — the band’s first new album since 1991. The tour will feature support by special guest X and includes a stop in Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center at The Heights onWednesday, July 6.

The Psychedelic Furs may not have invented rock & roll per se, but their influence since arriving on the post-punk scorched-earth landscape four decades ago has reverberated and resonated among all those who cherish the sweet-and-sour spot where rawness and romanticism meet. Born out of the UK rock scene and led by vocalist and songwriter Richard Butler, and his bass-wielding brother Tim, the Furs quickly developed as one of the premiere bands at college and alternative radio scoring a multitude of major hits with “Love My Way,” “Pretty In Pink,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost In You,” and “Heartbreak Beat” in all releasing eight studio albums, spawning several compilations, a boxed set, a live concert DVD and inspiring one of the most iconic motion picture soundtracks of all time.   Their latest release Made Of Rain became the Furs’ second highest charting UK Album ever and was prominently featured in the end of year “Best Albums” roundup in a multitude of publications worldwide. The Furs especially thrive live in concert having headlined the U.K.’s famed Glastonbury Festival, performing at sold out gigs at the California’s Hollywood Bowl and continuing to tour quite regularly around the globe. The Psychedelic Furs touring lineup remains Richard Butler (vocals); Tim Butler (bass); Rich Good (guitar); Mars Williams (saxophone); Amanda Kramer (keyboards) and Zachary Alford (drums).

Formed in 1977, X quickly established themselves as one of the best bands in the first wave of LA’s flourishing punk scene; becoming legendary leaders of a punk generation.  Featuring vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ Bonebrake, their debut 45 was released on the seminal Dangerhouse label in 1978, followed by seven studio albums released from 1980-1993. Over the years, the band has released several critically acclaimed albums, topped the musical charts with regularity and performed their iconic hits on top television shows such as Letterman and American Bandstand.   X’s first two studio albums, Los Angeles and Wild Gift are ranked by Rolling Stone among the top 500 greatest albums of all time.  The band continues to tour with the original line-up fully intact: Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake.

Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning at 10am on Friday, April 1 at Ticketmaster.com and RoseMusicCenter.com

Country music from The Roads Below & Jamie Suttle

March 27, 2022 By Dayton937

The Roads Below was formed by Arkansas native singer/songwriter Phil Evans, and Los Angeles-based guitarist Max Martilik. Shortly after meeting in the Spring of 2015, the two moved to Nashville where they linked up with local musicians to complete their lineup and establish their roots.

Mixing hard-hitting melodies with a twist of homegrown country edge, the band brings a fresh and dynamic sound to the current country scene.

“I Want Us,” the band’s debut self-released single, organically garnered attention, amassing over 5 million streams without any mainstream press or radio.

That was followed up by a series of self-released singles and sold-out Nashville shows before linking up with War Road Music, where they are now preparing to release their debut LP.
