Art on the Commons is now accepting artist submissions for its 31st annual festival. Organized by Rosewood Arts Centre, Art on the Commons will take place on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 11 am until 5 pm at Kettering’s Lincoln Park Civic Commons. Free to the public, Art on the Commons is one of the region’s most popular summer fine arts festivals, drawing a regional audience of over 10,000 in one day. Fine arts and crafts by 100 talented artists from around the country will be on display. Works include jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, metals, watercolor, sculpture, glass, fibers and wood creations.
Artists may submit their fine arts and fine crafts for jurying into the festival through March 31, 2019. All submissions must be made online at www.zapplication.org. A $20 entry fee is due at the time of submission.
The jury for Art on the Commons consists of three arts professionals with a wide range of artistic knowledge. Jurors are selected for their experience and expertise in a specific media and serve on panels in their area. A diversity of backgrounds and skills is sought, including artists, educators, fine art and craft gallery owners and museum directors/curators. A new panel of jurors is selected each year to allow for fresh perspective.The jurying process is done by category and is anonymous. Factors included are presentation, quality, originality, technical
ability and booth display.

Festival goers loved the WYSO Excursions Stage with Niki Dakota last summer, and Niki will be be back again this year! Bringing listeners eclectic sounds from around the world and from closer to home, WYSO especially loves to champion local artists and music that embodies the diversity of the Miami Valley. Rosewood Arts Centre and WYSO are delighted to showcase the uniqueness of Art on the Commons and of our local music heroes.
The region is home to some pretty fabulous food trucks. A tasty selection will be at AOTC, so come hungry. Grab a taste of the cooling treats of Sweet P’s Handcrafted Ice Pops; the chef-prepared cuisine of Harvest Mobile; wood-fired Bella Sorella Pizza; delicious South American favorites from El Meson and tasty Tibbs Italian Ice.
Rosewood Arts Centre presents Interactive Artmaking Activities, Kaleidoscope and the Rosewood Artist Booth! Families with littles are more than welcome at AOTC. There’s even a selection of free activities just for you! Kids are welcome to make finger puppets, beaded jewelry and a community painting. The Kaleidoscope Art and Nature on Wheels program will roll in to share a fun art and nature activity! The talented Rosewood faculty will also be on hand to show off their skills at fiber arts, jewelry making, painting and drawing.
