October 29th is Hauntfest in the Oregon District, the annual costumed celebration that closes down Fifth Street for the festivities. Because of that, Corner Kitchen, located at the intersection of Fifth and Wayne Streets, will be closed that evening, but will open up that Saturday for a Pre-Hauntfest Brunch from 11am – 3pm.
Owner Natalie Skilliter was excited to share plans for the day with DMM. “We LOVE Halloween. The staff is dressing up on Friday, Oct. 28 and for the Brunch on the 29th–it’s a lot of fun.
Last year, the kitchen dressed up as the Village People and broke out in dance to the YMCA. We had an Elvis that serenaded tables as well. It was a hoot!” We weren’t able to find out if a new group number is planned for this year, but we’re guessing there will be something special planned that is just as entertaining.
In traditional brunch style, the menu will be a mix of breakfast and lunch foods and according to Skilliter, “we’re still working out the details, but I know we’ll have steak & eggs, croque madam, pancakes, burgers and mussels. Plus, we will have a Bloody Mary bar!” Expect brunch entrees to be in the $9-$16 range.
Update: The brunch menu is now online.
