Fun, Fun, Fun As The Beach Boys Return

March 14, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

the-beach-boys-tickets_05-15-16_3_564b645a260a3It’s the first “return engagement” to be booked at Rose Music Center, as The Beach Boys and special guest The Four Tops will appear on Thursday, August 18th.

The Beach Boys continue to create and perform with the same bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut over 50 years ago. Their 2013 Capitol Records release, Sounds of Summer (RIAA certified triple platinum with over three million in sales and climbing), and it’s companion The Warmth of the Sun marked a resurgence in Beach Boys interest that has again rocked the world.

Grammy-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston, [Barry Manilow’s “I Write the Songs”], joined The Beach Boys in 1965, replacing Glenn Campbell, who filled-in for Brian Wilson, on vocals/bass, when he retired from touring.

The Beach Boys are founding member Boy Mike Love (lead vocals) and Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston (vocals/keyboards)—Jeffrey Foskett (guitar/vocals), Brian Eichenburger (bass/vocals), Tim Bonhomme (keyboards/vocals), John Cowsill of The Cowsills (percussion /vocals) and Scott Totten (guitar/vocals) round out the band.

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold.  But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys.  To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions.  But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $62.00*, $52.00*, $47.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to rose-music-center-atthepublic beginning 11:00am on Friday, March 18th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, the Rose Music Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.  Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.  The Rose Music Center box office is open for limited hours during the winter: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00am-5:30pm. *Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.  Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice.

Patti LaBelle Will Rock The Rose June 26th

March 7, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

patti_event“The Godmother Of Soul” – is headed to Huber Heights, Ohio at Rose Music Center for a hit-filled evening on Sunday, June 26.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $62.00*, $51.00*, $40.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, March 11th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, the Rose Music Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.  Charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000.  The Rose Music Center box office is open for limited hours during the winter: Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00am-5:30pm. *Ticket prices include parking and are subject to applicable Ticketmaster fees.  Dates, times and artists subject to change without notice.

Beautiful, simply does not describe the incomparable force known to the world as Patti LaBelle. As time continues to evolve, the soulful songbird’s name has become synonymous with grace, style, elegance and class.  Belting out classic rhythm and blues renditions, pop standards and spiritual sonnets have created the unique platform of versatility that Ms. Patti is known and revered for.

It’s a small wonder that Patti has time for anything else in between recording and touring, but she makes time and the world is oh so happy that she does!  Patti has written five best-selling books, Don’t Block the Blessings, LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About, Patti’s Pearls, Patti LaBelle’s Lite Cuisine and Recipes for the Good Life. More recently, she introduced Patti’s Good Life, a successful line of food products that features a variety of sauces, sweet potato pie and cakes and has starred in her own highly rated cooking specials on the Cooking Channel and Food Network.

In addition to her amazing career as an entertainer and entrepreneurial success, Ms. LaBelle’s work as a humanitarian is just as legendary. She remains an advocate for adoption, foster care, Big Sisters and the United Negro College Fund, among many other initiatives.  While Ms. LaBelle’s celebrated 50-plus year career is respected world-wide, she has also endured and survived personal strife. Within a 10-year period, she lost her mother, three sisters and best friend to diabetes and cancer. In 1994, LaBelle was diagnosed with diabetes and shortly thereafter became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.

The same motivation that had Patricia Louise Holte blossom from a choir member to lead vocalist for Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles and later Labelle, to a solo artist is the same energy that keeps her fire burning at seventy-one years young. “Each year I grow, and that’s a blessing from God.  I do what I can do.  I do what I feel God has given me the energy to do, so I just go out there and I do it…It’s not about making money because I don’t need money, but I need to sing.  With a voice or without, I’ve got to get on that stage.”  And the world is thankful that Ms. Patti’s voice sounds so good to our ears.

Old Crow Medicine Show & Brandi Carlile July 19th at The Rose

February 26, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

ATO recording artists Old Crow Medicine Show and Brandi Carlile announced they will join forces for a co-headlining tour in 2016. They will bring their electrifying show to Huber Heights, Ohio at Rose Music Center on Tuesday, July 19.

OldCrow-1170x400

Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $57.00*, $47.00*, $40.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, March 11th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, the Rose Music Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.

ABOUT OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW
For over 15 years Old Crow Medicine Show has been winning audiences with their boundless energy and spirit. The band has received the honor of being inducted as members of the Grand Ole Opry, and have won two Grammy Awards: “Best Folk Album” for Remedy (2014) and “Best Long Form Music Video” for Big Easy Express (2013). Additionally, their classic single, “Wagon Wheel”, received the RIAA’s Platinum certification in 2013 for selling over 1,000,000 copies. They have toured the world playing renowned festivals and venues with artists such as Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Willie Nelson, John Prine, The Avett Brothers and others. The band’s latest album, Remedy (2014), released by ATO Records and produced by Ted Hutt includes new Old Crow classics like “Sweet Amarillo,” “8 Dogs 8 Banjos,” and “Brushy Mountain Cojugal Trailer”.

ABOUT BRANDI CARLILE
Since her heralded, genre-defying 2005 Columbia debut, Carlile and her indispensable collaborators, Tim and Phil Hanseroth, aka The Twins, have always offered listeners both control and abandon, often within a single song. Yet, over four acclaimed Columbia albums, countless sold-out tours, and fruitful relationships with top producers Rick Rubin and T Bone Burnett, something was missing: Carlile and The Twins hadn’t yet captured the distinctive spark of old friends working up new tunes and the slippery magic born of years touring together. The Firewatcher’s Daughter, by contrast, is a full-on Carlile/Twins co-production, cut live in Seattle’s Bear Creek Studio, with complete artistic control granted by ATO. The 12-song album explodes with energy, urgency and pristine harmonies and represents the start of a fresh chapter for Carlile and The Twins. The Firewatcher’s Daughter follows 2012’s Bear Creek, which debuted in the Billboard Top 10, was hailed as “gorgeous” by Rolling Stone and “tremendously assured” by NPR. Brandi has sold out venues like Red Rocks, back to back nights at The Beacon Theater and performed at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and more.

“Weird Al” Yankovic to Appear at Rose Music Center

February 23, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

latestFollowing his wildly successful 2015 tour, four-time Grammy-winning artist “Weird Al” Yankovic has announced the continuation of his Mandatory World Tour in 2016.  Yankovic will bring his high-energy comedy rock show to Huber Heights, OH at Rose Music Center on Sunday, August 28.

Tickets for the Huber Heights show, $51.00*, $37.00*, $33.00*, and $23.50* will go on sale to the public beginning 11:00am on Friday, February 26th at www.Ticketmaster.com, www.Rosemusiccenter.com, the Rose Music Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.

According to Al: “I’ve decided to do the Mandatory World Tour for one more year, after learning that some people didn’t make it out to the show this last time around.  Apparently, they don’t know the meaning of the word ‘mandatory’!!”

The tour follows Yankovic’s Grammy-winning Mandatory Fun, which was the first comedy album in over fifty years to hit #1 on the Billboard charts and the first comedy album in history to debut at the top spot.

“Weird Al” Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history, earning four Grammys and fifteen career nominations.  He is best known for his hilariously irreverent parodies of hit songs by the biggest stars in the musical universe over the past three decades, including “Eat It,” “Like A Surgeon,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise,”  “White & Nerdy,” and “Tacky.” In 2015, Yankovic released his 14th studio album, the Grammy Award-winning Best Comedy Album Mandatory Fun making history as the first comedy album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and the first time a comedy album has reached the top of the chart in over 50 years.  The single “Word Crimes” debuted in the Billboard Top 40, making Al one of only three people to have had Top 40 singles in each of the last four decades (the other two are Michael Jackson and Madonna).  Yankovic has found success in multiple entertainment formats including the film world with his cult classic UHF, his CBS TV series The Weird Al Show, online with The Nerdist Channel with his faux celebrity interview web series Face 2 Face with “Weird Al” Yankovic, and the publishing world with Weird Al: The Book (an illustrated hardcover on Al’s life and career) and his children’s books, including the New York Times bestseller When I Grow Up.  Weird Al has performed more than 1500 dates over the course of his career and continues to direct videos and be an innovator in the entertainment community.

As Tom Scholz wrote in the rock anthem on the BOSTON album Don’t Look Back, “It’s a Party, Party, Party!”  Indeed, the 40th anniversary BOSTON tour promises to be a celebration honoring the group’s loyal fans. Many of them have supported BOSTON since 1976 when the debut album, Boston first hit the airwaves and took rock radio by storm, so it’s not surprising to see concert audiences that span generations.

Always a huge crowd pleaser with their high-energy stage show, out-of-this-world sound, and remarkable musicianship and singing, BOSTON prides itself on performing a totally live show without the use of prerecorded music or technical enhancements, delivering the extraordinary sound that is faithful to their studio recordings.

BOSTON became an iconic classic rock fixture when they joined the music scene with their self-titled album in 1976.  With over 17 million copies sold, Boston generated hits such as “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Smokin’,” rock radio staples that are still in heavy rotation today. Their second album, Don’t Look Back was another chart-topper that confirmed their place in rock history, followed by Third Stage, which hit #1 on the charts, with the top single of 1986, “Amanda.” With over 31 million albums sold to date, BOSTON has stood the test of time.

Fans can expect to hear all the classic songs they have grown to love, and will be treated to wild Hammond organ work, soaring harmony guitars, and exceptional vocal arrangements, as well as BOSTON’s unique visual stage presentation and plenty of extra-terrestrial sounds heard nowhere else on earth.
